Pretty new to BF so if I posted this in the wrong spot please advise. Anyways I came across a NEBO brand utility knife at the local hardware store counter, different than most others so I bought it. It has the usual razor blade with a liner lock and in addition to that it has a small spear point blade with a lock back. I'm thinking different, yet pretty cool. Ends up on top of that it has single LED light. Pretty easy to assume it's made in China. Regardless I am a sucker for knives, multi tools gadgets etc... I buy it and even find myself trying not to like it. Ends up I can't help but like it. The light itself is one bright LED light. The spear blade is sharper know because I ran it thru the Sharpmaker and turned out pretty sharp. It's solid and over all pretty handy. I still carry an array of high end production knives but find this being used alot. Here's my question. Anyone else purchase one of these? and if so offer up your opinion of it.

I've never seen the NEBO utility knife. I found this photo at www.nebotools.com:

How well does the blade hold an edge? I bought a Frost multi-tool (also an impulse buy!) and it seems like I need to sharpen the blade after every use!

supratentorial,

thats the one, they offer a basic model without the spearpoint blade and light. As far as the spearpoint blade holding an edge---it's so so. Mainly it's more of a poker than a cutter, use the razor blade for that purpose. The LED light is whats really handy. The neat thing is it only cost $6.00 bucks so I thought what the hell and bought it. It's compact, no blade play at all on either blade and overall it's compact. I love knives and have collected since I was very young. It just surprised me how good this actually was. I always carry pretty nice folders, Benchmade, Sog, Spyderco, Kershaw, SAK etc... and thought I'd carry for a day and in the drawer it goes---well not yet. I'll always use my good knives. I was just surprised how handy and pretty well built this $6.00 NEBO is. Whats a little awkward is the thumb stud is for and has to be used with the left hand on the spear point. Really the razor blade and light are the two I usually use. If you see one at a counter display and don't mind risking $6.00 bucks give it a shot and see what u think.

Take Care

$6 is the price of a Leatherman sheath! ;) I'll look for the NEBO tool the next time I'm at the hardware store.

I just bought a box of 16 multi-tools at auction. I only wanted one (older black oxide PST) but I had to buy the whole box. Most of the others are generic. :( I should get the multi-tools in a week or so. Hopefully a few will be diamonds in the rough. Your story has given me hope! :)

Love the folding boxcutters already. Glad to hear they are coming out with multi-use ones.
