I've had my Impulse for a little over a week now and carry it daily. Today while carrying it in my thigh pocket I heard a metallic click as it bounced off my leg. If I hold the knife and shake it there is a rattling noise coming from the pivot area. I've tightened the pivot screw, but this hasn't stopped the noise. This only happens when the blade is not locked open. It still locks up tight with no play in the blade. Has anybody else experienced this? Also, does anybody know how to stop the noise?

The rattle in the Impulse is caused by side to side movement of the stop pin. Note the pin does not rattle in the fully open or closed position because the blade is pressing on the pin. We have addressed this issue with the manufacturer and the stop pin will be press fit into the liner on future productions. As you mentioned, the rattle does not effect lock strength or engagement so we felt this was not important enough a detail to reject knives on which the pin rattles. Also note the rattle occurs on only some of the Impulses, not all.

I have not tried it yet but I believe a drop of Cyanoacrylate adhesive will secure the pin to the liner permanently and stop the rattle. This is a super strong adhesive sold in hardware stores that bonds to almost any material on contact. You can try this yourself or if you prefer to send the knife back to us, we will do this work for you.

If you have any further questions please let me know.

The stop pin makes sense. To make sure we are talking about the same pin, this is the one that the spine of the blade comes into contact with when fully opened. To apply the adhesive should I just place one drop on each end of the pin or just one side? Thanks for the help.

To Seahawk:

One drop on the liner side should be fine. The adhesive mentioned is super strong. If you do glue both sides make sure the one side dries completely for several hours before flipping the knife over. This adhesive runs like water and dries on contact. Also I did not mention the brand name I use for this type of adhesive is called Hot Stuff. The red label flows the best and dries the fastest.
