Impulse: This One Hooked Me......What Did I Get?

It seems to be the same basic knife as the Muskrat 313 with the gut hook instead of the spey blade. I'd say from the box that it's some older, my new in box 313 (no date stamp) is in a black and white one piece box.

I'm sure that 300 will be able to fill you in on all the details.

It's just what the box shows. It's the 321 bird knife, the hook is for pulling the guts out of the bird your cleaning! I want to see some action photo's of you using that knife as it was intended to be BG;)

LOL!

I just want to take a picture like Haebbie's. I'm retired from any dealings with guts.....been there, done that since I was 14 years old.

:)

See, if I would get all (or at least more) of the histories written you guys wouldn't need me. I have one with the gut hook removed. It makes a long thin bladed single spring knife. Makes me feel like a CIA spy and slide it in my sock in case a bad guy needs his throat cut. But as reality is reality, I like to open it once in a while but never carry it....ha

BG now find one with a mis-inserted 313 stamped blade, but it should be NIB or I will say you got may have been taken in by a faker.....

Gut hook action - I have tried a few times to use the hook, maybe I am not genteel enough to know how......I end up using my fingers...

If any of you are not a member of BCCI you ought to be, if not I was kind, here is where I posted history on the forum several years ago.

Thanks, 300B.......I'll have to remember it by "313 w/hook=Good Luck but Needs Box."

:)

Nice knife.......only two versions, so not a lot to remember. That's good for me. I have the first and don't really want the second, so I'm done except for the lucky 313 (guess I could try to get the Western version with the pretty scales just for fun).

:D

I have used such things and I was always under the impression that the "hook" method was just for field use (to quickly rip out most of the guts to help the bird cool) and then you had to do a thorough job when you got home. Who knows? It's a cool-looking knife, anyhow.

:D

Here is a 321 did not know I had but should be similar to yours not sure of year will have to dig to find date on paper nice little knife good luck with yours

Thanks.

I think your box looks older than the one in the auction pics of mine.

Interesting knife.

This one turned out well. Took a long time to find one at a good price.

It has a few little imperfections, but is basically near mint.

Now all I need is a cooperative Chickadee to pose for a picture like Haebbie's.

Looks like you should practice Impulse control, there are three threads where you state it was an impulse...:D

Well, BG, I didn't use Photoshop for the Birds Knife Picture. But if you ask me nicely it could be possible that I give you a hin how I nade it. ;)

Haebbie

Haeb, I think I know. A hunter's skill and great patience.

You baited him with a bit of suet or some other bird treat.

He looks like he's getting ready to peck at something on the bolster. If not that, then you just had his food close by and waited for him to land on the knife.

I put feeders outside my window in winter and I have a great bird photography lab. I'll get one next winter.

:)

Well, sometimes I go for weeks without seeing a bargain.......but recently.......it's been a target-rich environment on the Bay.
