In a quandary - need advice for next purchase

Recently got my first sebbie - small classic snakewood, excellent.

I know I want another CRK, but cannot afford to buy everything at once. The small sebbie is great, but I think I would really like an mnandi. Looking at the site reveals the mnandi weighs exactly half as much as the small sebbie. I like the idea of a little smaller knife than the small sebbie, but am afraid that once in hand the mnandi might seem too small, and wish I had gotten another sebbie.

At the same time, an umfaan looks exactly like the perfect medicine, but there is no indication they will ever be made again.

So, between another small sebbie and an mnandi - what do I do? I really need help from those who have both. Thanks.

Yeah

Please, please, please...

Afraid I don't follow.

the Mnandi is a bigger little knife than the specs show...

I thought it would be too small as well, until I handled one.

The Mnandi is an awesome knife.

Unless you have big ogre hands or something, it fits fine in the hand.

You already have a small Seb. I'd go with the Mnandi.

Plus the Mnandi pocket clip is aweseme, and I don't really care for the one on the Sebbie

IMHO, the Mnandi's the toughest dress knife on the planet. Of course, it's made to the same precision specifications as the Sebenza, but it's level of refinement sets it apart from even a lot of customs out there. The pocket clip's a work of art, and the pocketed inlays are quite impressive. If I already had a Sebenza, my next knife would be an Mnandi (and then a Shadow IV, then a NR, then a small Sebenza, then . . . .).

Best of luck in your acquisitions!

I didn't like my Mnandi so I sold it and bought a bocote small Sebenza. The clip is a work of art but, I didn't like the way it carried in jeans. In the front pocket of a dress shirt would good but, I only dress up for weddings and funerals so that hardly applies to me.

Overall length of a Mnandi is little less than a small Seb, the Mnandi package as a whole is just much finer but tough too . Mine was rotated into my pocket a couple of weeks ago and seems to have stayed there , it is a great edc.
Umfaan is a great collector piece , I have two . I find them too small for a user.

Another VOTE for the Mnandi. Mine has been in my back pocket every day for the past 9 months. Slacks, Jeans, Shorts....great knife that serves me well for 95% of my daily needs. Whether I'm opening letters, sharpening pencils or stripping caulk from between wood (used it for this last night) - I never have to 2nd guess pulling it out and wondering how it will perform.

I have a new in the box Umfaan from 1998 I'm thinking of selling. It's never been carried or used, and I have the original box, paperwork, and allen wrench. Anyone know what a current value is on these?

I want to get a classic Small Sebenza to carry ....

A bit off topic -- I apologize in advance, but I'm curious.

Pauldulson, I was in London in March, and during my stay there was a highly publicized knifing in the city, with an associated roar of anti-knife talk on the news. Where you live in England, can you carry your Mnandi w/o fear of confiscation, criticism, etc.?

I have both. Carry the Mnandi everyday in an office environment. It's pretty much a perfect knife for that...
