Got a large 21 that I love. Should I get the 25 or go with an Umnumzaan instead?

P.S. Before anyone says it, getting both isn't an option at the moment.

I don't have a 25, but want one. BBQ BOY has had both I think and I'd take his recommendation.

Out of the two I would go for the 25.

It feels way more solid
Handles are more comfortable
Almost flat grind feels very strong in use
Blade profile is more attractive even with the notch
I like to hear the clack of opening and closing

25 for sure

Are your comments above comparing the 25 to to the 21 or to the Umnumnzaan?

After seeing the 25 I think I would go for the Umnumnzaan.

Besides the 25 is brand new and is bound to around for a long time, they seem difficult to get right now since production just started. Get the Umnumnzaan now and get the 25 a year or two from now.

25 to Zaan.

I dont know how but it does feel stronger. I think has a lot to do with the new washer design. You get maxium contact with the blade yet the larger holes get rid of some of the drag.

Also lockup against the stop pin feels stronger vs thumbstuds against handles. Even though I have read that the zaan style should be stronger.

The ball in the lockbar looks similar but the 25's action lockup and unlock feel more fluid.

Vs standard zaan and startac.

Big +1

I have both and both have plus's. The two biggest to me are ergos and blade grind. The 25 outshines the Zaan on both

Just when I confinced myself that my Zaan and Classics are all I need I see threads like this! Now I need to sell a handful of Spydercos and Benchmades and pick up a 25 soon!

What's wrong with the 21 you have?

If your question is directed at me there's nothing wrong with my 21. Just looking to add another CRK to the collection and was planning on getting an Umnumzaan but with the 25 coming out I thought that if it really was a step up over my 21, I might get it instead. Still haven't made up my mind.

Well, a large 21, Umnumzaan, and a 25 do the same things. Get a Mnandi or small Sebenza.

I count agree more with Blackend.

I too have both, carried a tanto Umnum for the last two years and loved it, no knife cooed knock it out of it's top spot as number one edc knife - until now, the 25 is just amazing!

I have two Star Tac umnumzaan's and the Tanto umnumzaan, I also have several other CRK's to choose from as well as custom and production knives from various makers; until now the umnum tanto was king, you can't go wrong with one but after sounding a few days with the 25 I'm afraid that my other knives will be relegated to a life of obscurity and loneliness tucked into the far corners of the knife drawer.

If you can, fondle both and see what you like, if not I recommend that you start with the 25.

Good luck finding one
