Who are the last 5 or 6 handles MW??

I support and applaud the Ebay list and am listed on another site I'm a member of.....

I would like to say though... is this a gentlemans agreement that if someone bids on something, and he/she's a member listed on this list then there should be courtesy extended to not bid on the item as well?? Or to contact the said person and possibly work out an agreement between them????

A few of the members of the other site had their name listed on the Ebay list... and bid over the top of another person on the list, and it was brought up and it came under fire as to what the list was there for. Am I to assume that this is the agreement not to outbid someone??? If not what is the purpose of this list???

Also if that is the reason.... I think it would be nice to have something stating such at the top of the list... A disclaimer of such. And if you feel that you MUST bid over the top of someone else listed here... then you should have your name removed from said list. By not being on the list it removes the "gentlemanly conduct" clause from you.

Does this sound right??? Sorry, I am one of those people that if I am on the list, I don't think I should be stepped on. I also have dealt with people on the other list... and NEEDED the part as opposed from WANT the part.... and it was hammered out outside of the auction. Like... "I need this part, if you win it, can I buy it from you?" Or "How much are you bidding up to?? I am willing to pay this much"

Does this make sense??

I for one find it too cumbersome to negotiate who should bid on what. I routinely don't bid if I see a fellow BF'er up there, unless I need a slot filled in my collection. Then I may email the other person of my intentions, and they can tell me they really want it, and "could I back off". I will listen.
But I'm not going to get my shorts twisted over someone beating me fair and square. I agree if we all act in concert, we could keep some prices down, but if two people want it equally, then whoever is willing to pay more will win. That's an auction. I agree to have my name on there for information only. My sense of friendship keeps me considerate of all of you, and I'm confidant most feel the same. Some rare stuff should be open to all though! I mean taken to extremes, who can really decide who bids and who doesn't. I think we should all take our auction losses with good humor. It's money to spend next time.
I find myself thinking "aw sh*t, I shoulda bid $20 more" or "that S.O.B. knows I wanted that knife" but it's dumb reactive thinking on my part. Fact is, I was probably dreaming that I could get it for $20 less, or, I didn't need it anyway. I mean come on; How many of the knives that you have do you actually need!!!!
P.S. I am grateful to all who have "backed off". You all know who you are! I hope I have, or will be, as considerate!

I personally do not care if someone here outbids me on something. It's all a matter of how bad you wants the item, but, if it's something I really don't need, and see someone here bidding on it, then I will pass and not drive up the price.
Waynorth, how many do I need that I have???? Maybe 5, and they are my camping/survival knives, the rest is just wants...........

I pretty much feel the same way as most I guess. If I want something, but only if I can get it at a low price then if someone wants it more, no problem. If there is something I really want and am willing to pay for and I see someone I recognize bidding on it, we can talk and see who just wants it and who really wants it the most and go from there.

If I'm looking at something and see someone from here bidding on it, I'll ask myself just how much I want it and if not that much, then I'll just back off.

I think that if you see something you'd like that is going for a song, say way below what you think it should then it should be fair game to all. Actually, it should all be "fair game." But, in this context it's really a gentlemen's thing that is adjusted according to level of desire.

As we saw in Codger's postings on Albert Baer, he took the info he got about the military knife contracts and moved on it to his benefit, yet he came back and shared the wealth by sub-contracting. (To his benefit of course, but it was mutual benefit around.)

I guess summary would be, if you really want it more than I do, jump on it! If not, let me give it my best shot without bidding against you. The opposite works too. If I want it bad enough I'll bid on it regardless. If not and I see you are bidding on it, I'll back out and let you do your best against the others. Like Waynorth said, it is an auction.

I do like knowing when it is someone from here bidding on something, just to know.

The only real reason I see anyone should get upset is if some folks talked it out before hand and some agreed to back out and let a particular person take their shot at it. Then one of those who agreed prior suddenly comes in and lays down a big bid, especially a winning bid, after agreeing to stay away. That's an integrity issue.

Good point to bring up though in the thread. Nice to know how everyone feels about it rather than assume.

If someone I know is bidding on something I want I contact them and ask that if they reach their limit and are losing to let me know. That way I can bid if I want. The other reason I like the list is if someone is bidding on something I don't put it on the forum because that always raises the price.Arnold

G'Day, I find the list interesting to the extent when I see one of you blokes bidding on an item I like to see how you go and feel great when I see one of our crew win it.I only ever look at highest bidder in either case.
I feel I must have bid against most of you in the past in my quest for Schrade before I knew your handles and now when I see say Codger or one of the other forum members bidding I kinda swell up with pride become a little emotional as far as an Aussie can become emotional about anything other than Beer and eating Kangaroo steaks,...and I am really happy when I see you blokes get it, and its almost as good when I win the item myself.
I see no conflict whatsoever and may the best man or woman win.
Do we have any lady members?
Lighten up and have fun.....our stay on earth is so brief before we go to that big knife sheath in the sky,and we sure cant take the Schrades with us although I do have an asbestos sheath for my favourite stag Schrade D'Holder!! Hoo Roo from the land of Oz.

G'Day Orpheous, I've just spent fortnight in Cairns, today went Croc spotting in Daintree in electric boat which allows you to sneak up on them!Yesterday horse riding @Blazing Saddles in Rainforrest and day before Cable Car over forrest canopy to Kuranda.Hard to believe we won the war mate there are more Japanese in your wonderful town than Aussies!.....I think they appreciate what we have more than we do!
Better keep to the Schrade thread....I finally won a 51OT Mint on Ebay which goes close to completing my collection of later Schrade.
Had a Croc Burger at Daintree Village mate....yum. We saw 2 Crocs however our guide was searching for a 5 metre monster he had seen the day before but it must have been submerged today although cattle bones were on the bank!!! Hoo Roo from Oz.

Now back to the safety of my hometown Port Lincoln which is as far south as you can go with the next stop the South Pole...our town is the home of the White death..White Pointer sharks which regularly cruise our Bay and are approx 18 foot long!
