"How many do you think are "In Country" right now in Afghanistan and Iraq?"
It's hard to put any good numbers to a guess, but we can take into account several hints.
1) Didn't Busse & company donate $40,000 worth (manufacturing cost) of Busse knives to the soldiers overseas in Afghanistan? Let's conservatively guess that those knives cost no more than $200 each to make. That accounts for at least 200.
2) The limited offerings of desert tan coated military overruns which we've seen on this forum run to a few hundred knives.
3) I would have to guess that the military overruns represent only a small fraction of those made for use in Aghanistan and and Iraq.
4) I would have to guess that the ability to donate $40,000 worth of knives represents the sales of much larger number of knives, still.
5)There's been a fair smattering of posts from soldiers in Afghanistan or Iraq, or recently in those countries, mentioning them in use.
6) A lot of civilian knife orders were delayed, so that Busse Combat Knife Company could work on all of their military orders.
7) For a long time, Jerry was describing himself as perpetually busy working on military orders.
Like I said, it's hard to put good numbers to it, but perhaps these hints will give you some bounds for guessing plausibly.
