Up until the Cupidganzaaa, the largest Busse knife that I owned was the Active Duty. For this ganzaaa I decided that larger knives were on the agenda. Of course the Basic 8 had to be tried. And the Nuclear Meltdown Fusion Steel Heart was also calling my name. Both knives arrived in the same box on Friday. Both of these knives will be users. The feel of the two knives is very different. The Basic 8 feels light and narrow. The grip is filling, but narrow in the hand. The NMFSH is a beast. Much heavier with a thicker, longer grip. It really does make me want to chop something.
My next quest will be to find some sheaths that are worthy. I have no objection to kydek, but would like to find a nice leather sheath for each one of them. Possible with a drop loop. Any suggestions????

Basic 8 with black handle, NMFSH with black canvas handle.

Nice knives longun! For a leather sheath let me recommend Chuddybear Leather. They are top notch sheaths at gery reasonable prices. Plus, he might have those models on hand so you don't have send your in.

Surprised at the size difference on those two -- the NMFSH dwarfs the B8! Really looking forward to the B8 as the NMFSH was too big for my mitts, as nice as it was.

Looking good. I don't think I've met anyone who doesn't like the NMFSH.

I like Chuddy Bear for leather and Mashed Cat for kydex.

Long, I can set you up with some really nice leather pants. I just got the NMFSH, and I have a B8 here (for about a week).

Sweet scores. Love the NMFSH

+1 for Chuddy Bear leather and Mashed Cat kydex.

The size difference surprised me as well and is even more noticeable in person then it is in the picture. The weight difference is substantial too. They are very different knives IMO. But I am impressed with both of them. The weight of the NMFSH will probably keep me from carrying it for extended periods of time. At least without getting a better belt, ha. But for hacking up things around the campsite, it should work great. The Basic 8 should be a more mobile knife.

Long, I now get why the guys have been clamoring for the B-8 for many years. While the NMFSH is a very badass blade, the B-8 is far more versatile and useful, particularly when one is trying to minimize weight, such as on long hikes. Both great blades, but with very different missions.
