It's finally happened. That dreaded moment when you check all pockets and all possible (and impossible) places a knife could get lost to and realize one got left behind. My trusty alox pioneer which saw constant pocket time since I got it a few years ago somehow slipped out of my pocket on a bike ride this weekend. After retracing my path it seems ole Vic and I have gone our separate ways. Well here's to whomever finds him. May they cut, drill, screw, and open many cans and bottles with him. I'll just have to consider myself lucky that this is the first slip joint that ever got away from me (sunglasses, pens, lighters etc I've been much less lucky with. )

Never give up hope. I lost a week old #82 Dixie stockman last July 4th while visiting friends in Philly. I looked in every car I rode in, chair & sofa cushions, under decks, around the yard and anywhere else I could think of. Then did it again. My wife's girlfriend called her about a month ago and said she found it in a small drawered chest on her coffee table??

Here's hoping you have a similar outcome!

At least they are easily replaced and very affordable. Or maybe check with Jamie's wife's girlfriend, see if she has it. :D

Thanks guys. Yep I'll be looking for a replacement. Now the question is do I want to step up to the farmer or go with the Electrician. Thinking the Electrician is the most useful day to day. Wonder why they took the keyring off the Electrician though.

Sorry to hear about that. Loosing a knife that was some time on your side and well loved is hard to replace.

I´d go for a replacement. As you already mentioned, the Electrician would be a good alternative. I´d give it a try. I´m not that big fan of the Farmer. The additional layer is making is a little thick and bulky in the pocket. And I don´t have an actual use for a saw in day to day setup.

Maybe your Pioneer will appear come day. Knives tend to be hiding in the most unique places. I have almost found a Tinker, I used to carry in my workpants in one of my winter boots. It must have happened while I changed my clothes and it fell in there. Found it the following winter when I put the winterboots back to use.

I will echo what Andi said about the Farmer. I have one and I use it when I am doing home handyman stuff around the house. I have even used the saw for sawing wood. But that 3rd layer makes it a little bulkier than I like for general daily carry, for which I usually go with the Alox Cadet.

The Pioneer / Electrician / Rancher options are all good choices. You just have to decide on whether you want the can-opener-screwdriver, or a small sheepfoot, or a small hawkbill.

Thanks Andi. Funny story too.

Same thing happened to me with my red alox swissbianco pioneer/soldier. I had been to a bunch of garage sales that morning, and eventually bought 2 bookshelves, but when I needed a screwdriver I realized it was gone...
The alox scales are very slippery in the pocket, and it had no trouble slipping out because it was in my coin pocket.

Hope you find it! If not, buy another and put some memories on that one too!

coin pocket is a black hole for alox. when im reclined on the couch it always seems to pop out from there, so much so i always check my pocket after getting up off the couch. I try to carry deep in the rfp

Sorry to hear of your loss, Lemmy. Don't give up hope though. I once lost a Schrade 340T on a backpacking trip and my wife found it when we went back to the same spot about 3 months later.

I just lost the same knife a couple weeks ago. Reached for it every single day for one reason or another while it was missing. After a serious search mission I found my recliner had eaten it.
At least you have a good reason to shop for a replacement!

Thanks guys. perhaps one day it'll turn up again and make friends with the Electrician I just ordered, couldn't help myself. :)

This is why, when you find a knife that fits your needs, hand and pocket and pleases you eye enough to carry and use it every day, you buy spares of the same knife and put them back. My EDC for years has been the Uncle Henry 897UH Slim Premium Stockman. I have about two dozen of them and a bag of spare parts should I ever decide to build a frankenknife based on the pattern.

It was sad to hear about your losing a Pioneer you've carried regularly for quite a while, Lemmy. :(
But it's great to hear that you're "moving on" and picking up an Electrician to replace it! I don't think you'll regret that decision; I've carried an Electrician almost everyday since early last October and think it's an incredibly useful knife.
(I'd sure hate to lose my Electirician!:()
