Well, it's four more days until the OKCA Show in Eugene this coming weekend. I've been the last four years in a row... Each year I've met a few new people, and I've become reaquainted with those I've met previously... And several years ago, I ran into Scott Taylor and his wife early on the Friday before a show. He had several nice pieces on his table, but for some reason, big bowie-styles with a hint of recurve can really get me going - and the one on Scott's table was no exception! I put my card on it and wandered around in a daze for the next two days! I let him keep it on the table until the end of the show and then I took it home. By now, of course, most of you know Scott has passed on... But his work will last for a long time...
And to that end, I offer these poor shots of a most elegant, and wholly functional, chopper for your viewing pleasure in Scott's memory...
Stats: OAL - @15"; BL- just enough over 10" to disqualify it for the chopping competition he made it for!; Forged 1084 if memory serves and I forget what the handle is, but some of the other makers here might recognize it (I think it's curly maple or tiger maple?)
Thank you for looking...
