I salute those fallen and injured Sailers aboard that ship. I also feel for those familys who are dealing with the grief of a lost family member. I sure hope this country gets some PAYBACK for this tragedy! That's if the clinton administration could get the balls up and do it.

To all the warriors prior and present who have fallen for thier country. God bless the officers and crew of the Cole. May she sail soon.

Americans are very fortunate to have such professional soliders, sailors, marines, airmen and Coasties watching out for us 24/7.

As a former member of the military(Army) I consider it an honor to die defending your country. But these men died because of a cowardly act of terrorism commited by misled weaklings. They were not defending our country at the time, they were on a peaceful mission to refuel. It's time for payback but with current administration, good luck.Terrorists laugh at us because they know that against us they have rights. What rights did they give those sailors when they were blown up without warning? Why is saddam still alive? why are those responsible for WTC bombings still alive? Why is Tim McVeigh still alive? You know Marcinko's books may have gone over the edge since he went to fiction, but he hits the nail on the head in dealing with terrorism.
Rant mode off. Please if you pray today, remember the families of those who were killed or hurt.

I never served our country in the military, but we all need to remember these "Defenders of Freedom" in prayer and on a daily basis!
They ALL deserve our thanks.

"......"Each for himself gathered up the cherished purposes of life, its arms and desires, its dearest affections, and flung all with life itself into the scale of battle."....."Thou hast caught splendor from the sailless sea, and mystery from many stars outwatched"......
"Master and Maker. God of right the soldier dead are at thy gate who kept the spears of honor bright and freedom's house inviolate."....."Born of the sun they traveled a short while toward the sun, and left the vivid air signed with their honor." ......
"Death makes no conquest of the conqueror for now he lives in fame though not in life.".....NOT MY WORDS but, fitting for our dead sailors

Forgive me for being blunt, but we once we find out who is truely responsible for this cowardly act we should respond severly. If a government is found to be in any way related to the responsible party, we should turn that country into a parking lot. You can't be the big boy the the block and let something like this go. We are quick to respond to other's problems with force. this shouldn't be any different.

I salute our fallen warriors of the oceans, and pray for the comfort of their families.

---on another note concerning the Cole; the president of Yemen released a statement saying that the explosion was not from terrorists, but a malfunction aboard the vessel itself. any comments ?

Looks like Yemen is bucking to be a new parking lot. That's what I would do if I were Pres. Guess that's why I'm not the Pres.

Keep the families in your prayers

Would you trust the word of the President of Yemen, or the picture showing the torn metal turned inward?

Those seventeen sailors died in battle. We owe someone more than a few cruise missiles for this.

I would take the statment from the Yemen president and use it for toilet paper. Until our people confirm or deny his comment. If terrorists are responsible, I favor termination of those individuals. If Yemen is responsible, well I think a new parking lot is needed.

Two of the dead sailors are from nearby; one county to the west. really sad. Like the Beruit disaster of the Mid eighties when we lost 240 men to a bomb while the French lost 70. The French wanted the US to retaliate ,but the US refused and the French went on their own and nailed some people. Reagan did nothing and Clinton and his gang will do nothing. I guess my question is what we are doing in these parts of the world, whethere Beruit in 1985 or Yeman in 2000? Let us rely on our own hug e supplies of oil and let both sides oveer there duke it out on their own. And look what happened in 1967 with the USS Liberty which was attacked for TWO Hours by Isreali jets and torpedoes boats with 34 killed and 174 injured. Johnson REfused to go to the aid of the Liberty saying our relations with Isreal were too important to jepardize! Only a Miracle prevented Israeli commandos from chopters landing o the strinken USS LIberty and killing all the surviving crewmembers or rathere witnesses!Mysteriously the chopters FLEW off just before landing according to eyewitnesses on the striken ship. Truly a miracle or all of the crew would have been murdered.

The MId East over the years ,and dont forget the bombing of the Air Force barracks in Suadi AraBIA, have seem many acts of terrorism by the two antagonists against the US military personal. And WE do nothing to stop it. Politics gets Us servicemen killed while the politicos cozy up to both sides in that cursed area! If I had my way , I would pull out of the cursed Middle East and Start depending on our own resources here in North America! Many feel like i do ,but we have no say in decisions made "at the top" by corrupt politicos.

What will be the Next act over there against Americans? Lets get out. There is enough OIl Reserves in Alaska to make suadi Arabia sweat with envy. What did these men die for in the Middle East the last 35 years or so? For foreign oil and foreign interests. All THESE US Military Martyers to power politics will not have died in vain if their deaths WIll Wake up the American people to the folly of being in that region and depending on foreign oil.

Business as usual must end and we must get OUt of that miserable part of the world! Not One American soldier or sailor's life is worth it in that region where hatred must run its coarse and no sane person or nation should be in the Middle of that ages old Feud.

I put out my flag.
I hope you all did the same.
It is a shame that we sometimes forget what a dangerous job our service people have, even in 'peace time'
As for what to do...that's way over my rating. I put up my flag and show my support. They did not die in vain.
Ebbtide out.

God bless all of our service men and women.
May the good Lord watch over one and all.

As an 11 year vet of the US Navy I flew my flag at half mast today in honor of my fallen shipmates. My heart goes out to the families of the fallen. ITS TIME FOR SOME PAYBACK. These POS terrirists need to be hammered hard. We have the tools and the resourses to do it but the currant administration is a bunch of snot nosed draft dodging wussies. This wouldnt go unpunished if we had someone like Reagan in office still.

I have to agree with the previous posts except for Ivan's.His facts are incorrect &
his solution(isolationism) is no longer possible in the 21st century.
Can we ignore Saddam while he makes
weapons of mass destruction? I think not.
Ivan-You mean well & are justifiably
upset. We all are.My brother in California
e-mailed me some news.His wife's nephew
Lt.Commander Chris Peterschmidt is second-in
command on the U.S.S. Cole & he is O.K.& is
in the process of repairing the Cole.
One more thing-I rented the video "Rules
of Engagement" & saw it tonight.Fellow
Forumites-SEE THIS MOVIE.

My heartfelt sympthy goes out to the families of those killed in the cowardly attack on the USS Cole. I was angered by the media's second guessing of our security procedures of a vessel in port, and outraged by Yemen's lack of willingness to admit the truth of this obvious terrorist attack. I am certain that their government was involved at some level. Have not yet seen "Rules of Engagment", but can highly reccommend "Deterrence". That is one movie where I truely wish life imitated art.
Take care.....

My prayers for the families of the fallen crewman of the USS COLE. This sort of thing is going to continue to happen as long as we don't retaliate. We need to bring our men home and leave the rest of the world to fight it out omong themselves.

My prayers are with those young men and women and with their families.
Those cowards that did this terrible sensless act will be dealt with by a higher power.I believe this.
