when they perform the critical aspects of the forging. Good artists are mindless while they are painting or sculpting... Nijinski was once asked how he was able to leap so much higher than his contemporaries; he replied something like, "I jump when I am not." Albert Einstein intimated that his greatest breakthroughs came when he was not thinking... A good martial artist when focused is literally "out of his mind"!... This is definitely a good thing!
In HI's website something was said to the effect that the kamis talk and otherwise make a lot of commotion... I would be utterly amazed however, if they didn't stop this "idle chatter" during the critical stages of the steel's transformation; during the tempering, for example. Rubbing "magic stones" on the blade during the forging process is one thing, but the "one pointed ness"/"no-mind" state during these crucial steps... aah yes, that's where the real magic lies!
