In need of an EDC flashlight!

I'm looking for a quick, easy EDC flashlight. Nothing fancy, no need for strobes, high lumen output. I'm looking at the Fenix E21 light, seems like a good one. Don't want to spend more than $30-$35 on it. Any recommendations are appreciated!

check out the Olight i3 EOS, its a great little 1x AAA, three brightness settings, the low (which I use most often) runs for 20hours, high is still a nice bright 80 lumens, been using mine for a little over a year and half with no problems at all with it, besides losing a little paint since its on my keychain. You should be able to find one for like $20, they come in like 5 colors too.

I carry the fenix e11 and it's nice and bright for most uses. I used a energizer ultimate lithium aa battery and seems to work well. All depends on your uses and if you're going for brightness or efficiency or both.

4/7s preon 1 and 2 are great lights, though if you get the two it does like to come one in pocket so i would go with the twisty UI, they have AA called the MINI 2A that i have not tried my self but have heard good things.

I have an E21 and love it, but it is on the large side for an EDC for me.

That's why I have an E11 which is amazing for $25. Very bright for a single AA, and the size can't be beat! The CR123 versions are shorter but most are a little wider which I don't like.

And of course there is the battery cost issue associated with the CR123 batteries which I stay away from, that and I can get AA's at any convenience store no matter where I go.

I have 3 Fenix lights and a head lamp and couldn't be happier.

They are the best value around IMHO.

Your on the right track. ;)

Streamlight Microstream. Cheap, simple, great pocket clip, clicky tail cap, AAA. I love mine.

Streamlight Stylus Pro is the first thing that comes to my mind. I don't own too many flashlights, and I usually carry 'fancier' ones with more features, I quite like my Stylus Pro. Good luck in your search.

Check out Nebo. I just picked up their CSI Edge50 on a whim at a hardware store, and it seems to be of quite high quality for the price. There are some reviews here in this subforum.

another vote for the E series lights from Fenix. I have the 21 and the 05. the 05 is plenty bright for me to look in corners and crannys at work. I often need to go from well lite rooms to dark corners. If you have really big hands, the E11 might be a better fit, as the e05 is just a little bigger than a AAA, so it can be a bit tough.
The E21 is nice and bright, and would be a great fit for wilderness use, but I find that it can be a bit overkill for close work.
I wouldn't be afraid of the CR123s all that much, a couple of rechargables and a charger will pay for themselves. I just use the AA and AAA lights as I have easy access to them at work.
I got the the E05 above others simply due to availability, and cost.

So small you WILL actually use it as an EDC.

My buddy has one of those... and what you say is true... he's even forgotten it a few times and sent it through a wash/dry cycle lol. He loves the hell out of that light but seems to be changing the batteries in it every 5 or 6 weeks... not sure why but I think it's because it turns on in his pocket...

I just picked up a Nebo RedLine, and really like it... the one down side (for me at least) is no sheath/clip. Which isn't a bad thing it's helping me get off my butt and learn to do stuff with my hands again... Some might say it's a bit bulky but I don't mind so much. external link

I carry a Jetbeam BC-10 daily and could not be happier with it, click switch, tail stands, 2 modes that are simple to change back and forth through, very tough little light too. I give them as gifts, they can be bought on ebay for $34 with free shipping.

I 100% agree. Love the BC10. Inexpensive, simple High 270L or Low 30L. CR123a battery.

In the below pic, it's the one in the middle. It has actually beat out the PC10 and V11R (also pictured below) for my EDC carry.

I second the Streamlight Microstream. I carry one daily and love it. I've used it for some of the most mundane tasks and for some pretty exciting stuff like illumination while working a pickup vs train accident! 28 lumens really light up the cab of a pickup!

I had a eo1 and really liked it. It was pretty cheap, the size of chapstick, and used a aaa battery. The only bad part is that I keep losing the real small lights that I get. I have an e21 on order. They are still fairly small but I am hoping that I can keep track of it better than I have done with the little bitty lights that I have had. I will have to keep it away from my wife though. She could lose a floor lamp.

Check out an LD01 3 settings and sits on my keychain.

Really an amazing light IMO. I pull it out at work all the time and guys with led double AA mag lites always look at their lights and wonder how mine, being so small, is so much better.
