Just took a couple of Cases to my sharpmaker with the white rods. Wicked sharp in NO TIME. One of the knives was brand new and had a great working edge out of box but I wanted it a bit sharper. I mirror polished that thing on the 204 and now is pratically a razor. Case CV yellow handles are up there with Spyderco as the most bang for the buck out there. Also I had forgotten how awesome the sharpmaker is.

I've found that edges are even better if you spend a little time reprofiling at 30 degrees (15 per side) and then put a quick working edge on at 40 degrees (20 each side).

I agree. Case CV is good stuff. I have the Bonestag and Amber Bone large stockman knives.

Well what I actually do is sharpen to 40 with the fine stones and they back-bevel I believe it's called at 30 to knock down the shoulders with the fine stones, makes for a scary sharp edge.

My first good knife was a medium Case yellow stockman. Great knife, I have replaced it with a newer one and it is in the rotation. Both were cv of course.

I carried a 63032 for several years. I don't think much of Case stainless, but that knife was GREAT! Just the right size, and held a great edge.
I quit carrying it when the blade got lazy.

I've said it MANY times before, and I'll keep on saying it. Case needs to find some other stainless for their knives than that stuff they use now. Even AUS 8 would be an improvement, while still being easy to machine.

The CV they use is the Bee's knees though. I likes it lots. :)

I too would LOVE to see them drop 420 for 440C. But I'd imagine that would result in a price increase. Anything better than 440C would put the price of their knives through the roof, check out their ATS-34 model prices.

ATS-34 isn't that much more expensive per pound or to machine... why the prices more than double is a mystery. Looking quickly... S&M has no price difference between ATS-34 and 420HC on their Mountain Man ($79), or in their gunstocks ($74).
