I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but I just have to say how impressed I am with my newly acquired BM-E (thanks progunner!)
I had to prune some rose bushes and an apple tree this weekend and I figured it would make for a fine workout with the BM. The edge was slightly out of alignment when I got it, so after some steeling I took to the convex side of the edge with some sandpaper and a mouse pad, working my way up to the 8000 grit stuff and a mirror-polished hair poppin' edge. "Groovy," I muttered to myself in my best Clint Eastwood as my wife rolled her eyes and sighed. Then I sheathed the puppy and ran out the back door into the yard like a kid coming downstairs on Christmas morning...
To say this thing chops well just doesn't do it justice. After cutting branches of all sizes for a while it began to feel as if I could casually wave the blade toward a branch and the darn thing would just leap off the tree out of fear! I was amazed at how well I could control such a large blade and the ergo grip felt very comfortable in my hand. I had to restrain myself after a while or there wouldn't have been any tree left!
But could it really hold the edge? After finishing my yard work, I cut up a dozen large boxes for the recycling bin. I tell ya' I was able to push cut through them all like they was buttuh!
My only regret is that after cleaning the blade and giving it a light touch up on the mouse pad, it looked as if I'd never used it in the first place!
Hats off to the Busse crew for making such awesome tools!
Nuke on,
