So, im putting together an order for CRK for a large inlay and a matching small inlay.

Im torn between mammoth bark or snakewood... if you got any pics of either Id love to see em..

also, for those in the know, what is the up-charge for mammoth bark and snakewood?

Im getting it with a polished 35VN blade, and satin scales.

first im gonna get the set, and then add a matching Mnandi later on.

But the two sebenzas first... they say there is a 3-4 month wait, which isnt too bad.

Im stoked as my CRK addiciton is just starting to blossom... The umunumzaan is my absolute favorite knife. I want more from this guy!

Cheers!

Ive seen some varieties of mammoth bark ranging form a solid color, to a more mottled appearance. If I got mammoth bark, I would definitely opt for the more mottled appearance. Some white, some yellow, some browns... i have been looking through the pics of the folders to get some ideas... and I have seen some really nice mammoth bark. I am really leaning towards the bark... but the snakewood still looks awesome. damn... they all look soooo awesome. Decisons decisions...

I guess I dont really have to choose until the time to make them comes around.. Hmmm.... we shall see

:)

Half the fun is figuring it out.
Here are my mammoth bark and snakewood Mnandi.

if I can choose the bark to some degree, I am going with a large and small with double gold lugs... After seeing what is available, I really just love that mammoth bark. Do you guys know how much extra it is for the mammoth bark?

I'm pretty sure the inlays are about $75 more, Snakewood and Mammoth Bark are considered premium inlays so they might be a bit more.

Heres my small snakewood. Snakewood is a premium inlay but mammoth bark is a super premium inlay.
Its going to be quite a bit more I think. Maybe you should also look at some of the annuals. Im not sure
what this years inlays are but you can still probably reserve a set of big and small.

If given the choice I would take mamoth inlays over wood, especially for something like a set. Good looking mamoth bark is getting harder to find and more expensive by the day it would seem. It would be worth looking at cream mamoth ivory inlays as well I think, there are some lovely colours hiding under all that gnarly bark you know ! :p

So apparently the mammoth is a $300 per knife up-charge... so thats out... I dont wanna spend that much on a couple of users.... plus the wait time on those is up to a year and a half... So I am going to look into some other options, and snakewood is still on the table.. . but for snake wood there is an approximately 6 month wait. So i'm going to explore some other options, but it looks like snakewood may be the winner.

Ok, so i just put the order in for large and small with snakewood and double lugs. Now the long wait...

But im super excited about these!

The annuals are all accounted for! :( I recently checked with the Reeves. Darn it! I dont think you d be disappointed with any of the inlays! They are all masterpieces!!

Congratulations on your snakewood order. Besides the price it might very well make the better user matterial. That said a set of mammoth bark Sebenzas would have been outstanding. I love mammoth barks look, but have yet to get one myself.
