In search of a knife maker

Hello, I am looking for information on a hunting knife I was given as a kid in the 70s. The maker is Robt Klaas out of Germany (Solingen). The handle is exactly like the Hitler youth knives but instead of the swastika there are two "kissing cranes". The blade is curved back slightly and has notches like a thumb hold. I would appreciate any web site anyone could direct me to to either find another one or have it refurbushed (my bonehead brother broke a piece off). I am not 100% sure if my dad brought it to Canada when he came from Germany in the 50s. He was in the Hitler youth but never spoke of it so I don't believe it was "original equipment". I have tried a "google" search but can not find what I am looking for so any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

I would suggest going to the A.G. Russell Knives website and contacting Mr. Russell about your knife. If I'm not mistaken he once owned Kissing Crane knives and probably knows as much as anyone about the history of the company.

Sorry Mick,

I owned Bertram GMBR maker of the original Hen & Rooster knife, the factory closed in 1980 and Kissing Crane, a second line factory began making them for Jim Frost. Kissing Crane knives are made today in China for Hallmark knives.

It's a Robert Klaas Kissing Crane knife. :)
Kissing Crane knives are now made mostly in China, I'm not sure who owns the company these days.
Seems to be an outfit called Hallmark. http://www.texashuntfish.com/app/ne...Robert-Klaas-Kissing-Crane-Hunting-Knife-Line

I think A.G. owned Hen & Rooster, not Kissing Crane.

Sorry for jumping on your post, I did not look far enough.

Robert Klaas still exists in Solingen Germany and probably makes a few knife for the domestic market.

So Robert Klaas is a manufacturer. Was it originally an individual maker at some point in the past, or just the name of the founder's company?
I have a Nazi officer's dress sabre that was brought back from Europe or North Africa by a friend of the family along with a bunch of plainer ones taken from Germans he'd introduced to his Thompson M1.
It says "ROBERT KLAAS" in an arc over kissing cranes, and "SOLINGEN" underneath.
I've found sites that have similar sabres, but nothing that looked just like it, and no guides that assigned $ value estimates(which I'd like know, especially if I ever decide to sell it).

I looked at the link and it is very close but not quite.....my blade is curved more like a skinning knife and the stamp in the handle is the two cranes.

I have to say I am impressed by everyones response....quick and accurate. I am glad I found this site.
