Hello all,

I’m in search of a Yancey knife. TJ is my grandfather and told me many stories of his knife making days. It has been a hope of mine for sometime to find one since he no longer has any. If you could please direct me to a place that potentially has one, I would be very grateful.

Hi Mark,

Google search didn't come up with something current. One good lead is Blue Ridge Knives. Call them, he has a LOT of uncategorized classics in cases. That's a good lead.

Another person/dealer VERY knowledgeable in the classics is Art Green up here in the Northeast. He would steer you in the right direction.

Welcome and Good luck. Let us know what you find. I suspect one of these leads might be good. They are tops in this field.

I am pleased to hear of your interest, for posterity!

Blue Ridge Knives didn’t have any, and I have sent an email to Mr. and Mrs. Green. Hopefully I hear back from them soon!

Try Daniel at Blade Gallery. He has a lot of connections and would no doubt be willing to help you and keep you in mind if one ever shows up on his radar.

I have a hunter with 3 3/4" blade and original leather sheath which I bought new in the 1980's and never used. It is etched "YANCY ESTES PARK,COLO." within a mountain logo. If this is what you are looking for, please call me at 303-940-1639.

One week later. No response from Marki

Mark,
My Dad taught Ann how to do scrimshaw. I ran around with TJ jr. in South Texas. I have 1/2 of a 1 of a kind pair of TJ's knives. Sadly it's not for sale. Contact me here if you like.
