I've been out of the loop for a while, but I handled a Microtech LUDT auto yesterday and now I gotta have one. :D
I cannot find a black handle/stonewash blade anywhere online. Suggestions?

You would also do a lot better posting this in the Automatic knives Forum...

I've seen a few for sale in the automatic knives for sale forum, they will pop up every now and again.

I have 2 LUDTs.......I carry a Pro Tech TR3. More comfy in hand and just keeps firing hard!
Both new LUDTs I bought broke springs in a month.
Now that they have been repaired they fire well, but I really don't trust them like I do Pro Techs.

I love Microtech otfs, but in the land of side opening autos I'd look closely at the Protech tr3 first.

The TR3 is a good knife, Ive owned a few, but the LUDT gets me 390 steel. Biggest drawback to Protech is there use of 154, just my opinion ofcourse.
Thanks guys

How is elmax superior? I personally wont touch elmax. Microtech even keeps pumping out m390 instead of their old elmax.
In terms of Elmax vs 154CM, Elmax is superior. In terms of Elmax vs M390, M390 is superior.

M390 > Elmax > 154CM

My first auto was a LUDT in 2001. They are the best auto available, production or custom.

(Generally I have a low opinion of MT but these are awesome)

I'll tell ya Matt, I thought the same thing, and to be fair maybe I just got 2 lemons, but I bought 2 brand new ones from Blade HQ.......and both broke springs in less than a month.
After repair they're working well, but I don't really push them.

MT is like that. There was a bad batch of D/A OTFs in 07 that had internals which literall crumbled. A run of CMTX D/A had bad heat treat on the sear that kept the spring loaded.

Yeah, What is the deal with them and 154cm? I know it does the job but there are much better steels out there now.
