In search of odd-looking knives

Recently, I have taken to looking for odd-looking or unusual shaped knives.

I would visit small towns or walk into a dust-covered shop in my forgotten part of the city, searching for knives which seemed to have a story of history behind them.

Only last weekend, I spotted a few penknives which came in the form of mermaids. They look relatively new but I have not seen the likes of those before.

In the past, I have come across some great discoveries as far as blades are concerned. The plus side is I also get to know the town and the people.

It seems that this knife hobby has other wonderful side-effects.
:) :) :)

Take a look at D.R. Good's knives. I have this one and I've definitely never seen anything like it before.

Medusa, I'm sure you hear it now and then, but that knife is SO COOL!!!
Sorry, had to get that off my chest.

I'm at the office this evening (taking a break) and don't have access to the knife to give the maker's name, but the strangest blade I've bought is a "combat ulu." It was made out of steel from a commercial lumber saw blade. It looks like a large ulu, but the steel leading to the handle comes off one end rather than out of the center. The steel connecting the blade and the stag handle curves back so that the handle is parallel with the cutting edge. The other end of the ulu blade (opposite from where the handle curve originates) has an extremely sharp tip for ripping. When you hold it, it has a distinctly Klingon look. I wouldn't want to be hit or slashed by it!

That knife is totally cool. I've had it for about six months and it's still one of the coolest knives I've ever seen. And it might be the coolest knife I've ever seen for under $200!
