Ah yes, as collectors we all have those 1 or 2 knives that continually elude us, keeping that empty slot in a display, and our hopes high. I have been out typed on "buy it now" and out bid on fleabay on 2 occasions since 2002. Well the stars were aligned just perfectly, and I finally found that mint in the box inverted 110 from 1972...the 5th Version, variation 2(correct,right Joe;)). Ah yes...life is good:thumbup:(and thanks Bruce, if you read this forum!)

Good thing Buck has decades of knives to collect....wouldn't want the Mrs. to think I'm done or have "free-time":D

I was thinking about getting it... Because you never see them mint in the box... Anyway I didn't buy because I'm trying to save my money for a small ex-buck-employee collection. Well it's a big collection, but he is only selling a little at a time... And that's ok with me... :D ... I Think you did good and I'm glad you got it... :thumbup: ...

Excellent buy! Congratulations! I got mine the same way a couple of years ago. A guy had it on ebay as a buy it now for $35. It was brand new with sheath and box. I just about fell out of my chair and my hands were shaking as I was typing to buy it. I am certain that if I had not seen it as soon as it was listed it would have been gone.

My Holy Grail are some VERY special 184 knives and stuff.
I just was able to take one off my list a few weeks ago:D
Nice 110 knife I hope you can enjoy it for years. I am a firm believer if you set a goal you will be able to have it happen. Just have faith the size of a mustard seed you could move a mountain. Mustard seeds are very small...

I know it too well LOL ...I hit confirm on that BIN and....."winner"-"michealkerins" was all that showed up..talk about extreme highs to extreme lows in a split second. Yours and 1 other are the only 2 that I've run across. Buck couldn't have made many of them, and in a short time frame. The 1st and 2nd Version 110s were easier to find than this one.
 
I hear they made about a 150 of them... How many got used??? How many are still mint in the box??? I wish I knew... I just hope there is one out there for me, someday... :D ...

A 150 of them maybe high.Perhaps only 100.
I got mine this year at a gun/knife show in March. Just browsing along saw some 110's,started opening them up and then my adams apple froze.Not looking up,I ask how much?I heard 30$.All I remember was feeling my wallet in my pocket as I walked away,not knowing how it got there.It was in very good shape just no sheath.DM

I think we all have let oppurtunity slip by, sometimes without knowing sometimes with. My best-ist knife I got at a gun show like David. Looking through a large tin can of knives there it was, I knew it was odd and old but had no idea it was one of only two known from the orginal dozen or so made.

I let a 300, I only have found once in last five years, slip by last week as I dealt with life and the bid end slipped by unthought of....Shot at and missed, ---- at and hit......But, it was a secondary grail compared to the big number one.......the great white whale.
