I posted this earlier at the Asian and Australian forum and got some info, but I couldn't locate someone who actually lives there now.
I am writing this from the free Ethernet network for laptop users (!!) at Changi Airport in Singapore (one of the best airports I have ever visited), on my way to Wellington where I will be staying until Sunday morning.

Only SAKs here at the airport, but for fountain pen lovers, there is a shop that has a lot of pens, not only from Parker, Pelikan and Waterman, but from Namiki and Montegrappa as well.

Woah... free ethernet? That's pretty cool! Wish they had that in local airports.

FREE! You just plug your laptop into an Ethernet socket and away you go!
And, if you do not have a network access card, they even loan you an Infrared Modem card for free, for as long as you like!

Off to catch my plane, I will check back from NZ again.

Update: I'm in Christchurch, NZ, waiting for another plane connection to Wellington.
Here, the way onto the Information Superhighway costs just a little bit, but it is as easy: you drop 2 NZD (roughly 1 USD) into the machine, and you have access for 10 minutes.
