I had planned a fall color tour through Wisconsin and Upper Michigan and knew there was no way I could pass up a detour to Escanaba to make an in-store pickup at KSF. So I placed the order a week in advance and noted, "hold for in-store pickup". On the morning of October 5 I awoke in Houghton, Michigan with a big smile because I knew it was 1) Another nice fall color day, and 2) KSF visit day.
Four hours later my heart missed a beat when we arrived at the store only to see a sign on the door which read, "Store Closed for Remodeling". However, one tug on the door handle brought a very nice young lady to open the door and invite us in. I took delivery of a Sebenza 25 with micarta inlay (#2 in my collection) and an Nyala Insingo grind. Even though the shop was undergoing a re-design, there were plenty blades on display to drool over and get educated on some of the lesser known knife makers products. KSF has a very impressive array of cutlery. Too bad I don't live in Escanaba. On second thought, I'd go broke with easy access like that.
Here's a few pics.
