In the Emerson style

Scott, I have to agree with Tat on this one. I was able to handle two Sitton blades at Blade West,....and I didn't feel compelled to drop serious cash on either of them. They DO look nice, but they just didn't feel very right to me. Just my opinion.

Another great reason to like this place so much, get input from people in the know.

Eric and Tattoo, you have to give me all the grizzly details about your thoughts on these knives. Having never handled ANY custom, I need to know.

forget the knife, nice though it is.

its posed on a 5.7 mm submachinegun from Fabrique National!!!!!!

That calibur is only begining to come out, and it shows real promise. Imagine a pistol sized like a glock 17 with 20 to 25 rounds, capible of piercing kevlar and penatrating about 12 inches into the body cavity, and causing lots of damage.

That calibur has had a few writeups in gun mags, all singing its praises.

Oh yeah, The ATF says its a not a "sporting calibur" so don't look for it in gun shops any time soon.

Hi!

The FN P90 is a very nice looking/handling gun, x-tremely low recoil impulse.
As you say, it's a new gun, and there are some controversy on the terminal (??) effectiveness of the round.

It's a great penetrator though, both through flesh and ballistic material.
Magazine holds 50 rounds and they are placed in the magazine in a 90 degress angle to the barrel and are then turned in the end of the mag.
It does look very weird when you're looking at the magazine, "-hey, they are in the wrong position here!"

I think this category of weapons are called PDW, Personal Defense Weapons.
Also found in this category would be the H&K MP5 PDW, and also H&K's newer model called just PDW, which has a really interesting spoon shaped bullet.

Oooops, now i'm rambling, guns are just too fun, especially full-auto/class III :)

Knife content? i carried my commander last time i fired the P90 :)

How do you like the way the magazine is positioned on the gun,is it awkward or easy to handle? It must be an anwsome gun with 50 rnd cap, and by the way how did you get your hands on an FN P90 to shoot?
When you talk about that glock with all those capabilities, you remind me of the only select fire glock, i think its a GLOCK 25. Its basically modeled after a glock 17 except with a selector switch on the left rear portion of the slide(too bad for me, i'm a lefty).

And back to knives, I had my emerson CQC7BBT clipped onto my pants when I shot an UZI, the last time I shot a glock, the last time i shot some trap(my local range just got closed down for good by enviormentalists, nearby homeowners who are anti gun liberals, and parks department all working together, It seems the homeowners never realized why the land was such a deal, quite noisy i would think, who would guess :) next to a range, noisy NEVER :) i have to find a new place to shoot ), well to make a long story short, i do sleep with my emerson.

OK, now we're talking about things in my field. :D

I've played with all the above mentioned firearms. Matter of fact I was working with a few P90s, FiveseveN pistols, G18Cs, MP5 PDWs, ect.

In my opinion . . . . the P90 is overly bulky and cumbersome for it's intended purpose. Add to that the point that Jonas brought up about questions about the rounds actual street performance due to lees then carbine like velocities. (Note, it has been used in one campaign successfully, in Peru)

If the round was suspect in the P90, you can imagine what it's like in the "FiveseveN" pistol. I will say that the little sucker is a dream to shoot. Minimal muzzle flip and recoil.

As has been mentioned in part, the ammunition for the P90 is extremely restricted being "Armor Piercing Handgun Ammunition", meaning it's about unobtainable. A popular gun writer buddy of mine mentioned in passing that the 5.7x28 ammo is $4 a round currently or $200 a magazine for the P90 or about $4K a case, IF you could buy it. I don't know if this is accurate, but I have no reason to doubt him. (The last two years at SWAT Roundup, the FN guys not only had to account to ATF for all the live rounds, but all spent cases as well)

The G18 is the select fire Glock pistol, they also make a ported version called the G18C. Now those are a blast. Talk about fun to run. It's even pretty controllable when used with a stock. I actually enjoy firing the G18 since they improved the selector switch so it doesn't rap my freakin knuckles at 1500rpm.

There are a couple of other PDW platforms on the horizon. Most will not be available to the everyday man, but I've gotten wind of at least one (using 50 year old technology) that should be pretty interesting. :D

Nice discussion... :)

The placement of the magazine is ok, it's out of the way, but, no speed reloads from the shoulder (as far as i can see) remember that this gun wasn't really built for combat, rather for personal protection for non-combat forces.

I have some military contacts, otherwise i'd never be able to shoot that P90 and other sweet guns, can't imagine there being any P90 in civilian hands over here :(

Guns are so much fun, too bad i live here in Sweden, thanks a million for my military friends/contacts!

John, please tell us more about that gun with the "50 year old technology" :)

Man, i'd like to rip with that 18 too, someday i will and it'll end up in my book "Guns i've shot" ;)

Oh yeah, i did get [another] CQC7 (prod.) yesterday, ahhhh.... :)

My 'PDW' is a Colt Lightweight Sporter with juiced up Hornady varmit rounds, backed up by a Glock 19 with 115 gr.Cor-Bons. No need to hear that "ka-ching" ($$) sound when shooting.
