In the market for a mid-sized fixed blade

For a while I have been using large fixed blade knives (6.5”-7.5”) for just about everything, from around-the-house work, to bushcraft, and anything else imaginable. This is normally fine, but it can make skinning and package opening a bit hard, plus it scares people :D. Anyway, I got a $25 amazon gift card and thought that a mid sized fixed blade (4”-5”) would be nice, but didn’t know where to start. Any suggestions?

I will not consider partially or completely serrated knives, stainless steel, or folders.

Price limit $25

Sorry, I retract my previous suggestion after seeing your budget.
I have no suggestions at $25. At that price, buy what looks good to you.

I agree with 22-rimfire and I didn't even think about Mora.
That will be the best knife you are likely to find for $25 and you can find one where your gift card is valid.

Mora definitely for that budget. For not too much more, ( yes I know, but hear me out) you can get a Landi EDC, good quality, good carbon steel blade maybe A2 or 1095, decent sheath and comfortable handle. Or Becker tweeners.

I've been interested in checking out the Ontario Ranger Falcon Fixed Blade. Probably above the limit, but US made, and wouldn't break the bank.

Mora Companion.

Also, Rough Rider would have something. I've got their 176. Would hit your budget.
I prefer the look of the RR but the Mora is probably the better quality knife in this particular case.
But you have options.

Schrade Old Timer's Lil Finger is another option but smaller than what your are looking for size-wise but again hits the $ point.
