In the Mountains with Kephart

I took advantage of a sunny afternoon to hike the moraine ridge up to Bierstadt Lake in RMNP today. This time I took along my Barkie Kephart as my companion. There were some really nice views of the mountains, including Long's Peak. Some shaded parts of the trail were in 6" of snow and probably would have been better handled with snow shoes, but other parts were nice and dry. Besides the views, the highlight of the trip was the south facing slope of the moraine, which is covered in sage. Even this late in the season it smelled fantastic:thumbup:

First some pics of the Kephart:

The lake is frozen and the peaks beyond almost looked purple in the afternoon sunlight.

great stuff man.. gorgeous scenery all around.. :thumbup:thanks for sharing..

Thanks, I'm in Colorado for a month and I'm trying to squeeze in as many mountains hikes as I can, especially since the snow hasn't gotten unmanagably deep.

Great pics and nice knife. Frozen lakes in mid November; I don't know how you guys do it. Thanks for letting me enjoy it through pics :)

Hey XMP, thanks for sharing.

I guess you guys never have to worry about whether or not you're going to have a white Christmas. :D
