It has been raining off and on here all day. Its cold and grey.

A lot of people would stay home but a day like this makes me want to get outside and do something. I went for a short hike to a small lake I recently found to have Bass. Last time I was there I saw Bass all over the place spawning but they were too busy getting freaky to eat anything. I saw so many good sized bass I have been excited to come back after spawn.

Here is a picture of a bass spawning the last time I was there, about 3 weeks ago.

So I head back there tonight. Walking in you cross 2 pedestrian bridges. The first one had a family of Geese passing under it,I grabbed a few pics of them.

More walking and I get to the 2nd river and bridge I need to cross.

At the lake, that's where I'm headed. The beaver house on the far side.

Found a neat rock to grab a few pictures on the way around.

I brought a few easy things to make a cold night more enjoyable. Cant have fires outside of the provided grills and fire rings at this lake so I brought a can of sterno.

This looks like a good spot for the sterno.

It lights on the first scrape of a firesteel.

While the water heats I toss a spinnerbait some more catching my only bass of the trip.

Time for some tea.

Had a multi tool in my pack, opening the tuna like this was faster...and more fun.

I hope you enjoyed my pictures. :)

Sigh...All that rain and a carbon steel BK-9...If only there were some type of coating to prevent rust and corrosion  hahaha. Nice pics though Mauser, looks like you had fun...When you caught that bass did you keep it or is it a catch and release thing?

These can rust? Crap I should have got a Gerber... Hmmm for some reason its not rusting yet.....must be something in the oil.;)

I could have kept the Bass but I released it. I really like to catch Bass and here in Colorado our Bass grow much slower than places like California or Florida. I release all the Bass I catch because I would rather catch them than eat them. We have A LOT of Trout here and I fish for those to eat. I just brought home 7 trout a couple days ago. Took a few BK14 vs fishguts stink test pics im thinking about posting.

Looks like you made the most of your rainy day. Beautifl scenery you have there.

Who would have thought so much fun could be had in Thornton? Nice photos and good fishing. Next time I cross the divide you may be asked to take a companion. LOL

Nice Mauser! Diggin' that pic of the 9 on the bridge! Looks like you had a good time out there!

Thanks for the pictures B. You had a good day out. I like that last picture. Looks like the 9 is red hot.I have never used sterno cuz I have a trangia but now I will have to give it a try. Post those BK-14 pic's when you get time.

Nice pictures Mauser.

You're making me wanna get out there and reel a few in. Is it the weekend yet?

Ive had decent luck with roadrunners, buzzbaits, and small spinners in spawing season here in CA. Thanks for the great thread man, and please post up that trout thread. Oh and nice bigmouth brother. (I mean fish of course...):D

haha that literally made me laugh out loud. The 9 looks good Mauser. It makes me want to strip mine.

Great pics man! Looks like a good time. Oh once I'm back in the states I'm gonna be headed to CO sooooo ya... You should show me around haha

Looks like you were really roughin' it. Most sane people would have stayed home. Fortunatly, there's not many sane people in this forum. Great pics and good fishing!
Cheers
