This week I have been finishing up lots of random projects with 10 knives shipped and 4 more to ship today.

The Framelocks are going well! I got tired of breaking taps and found a used Tapmatic which is now on the way. I ordered a drill press to dedicate to tapping, it will hold the tapmatic instead of a standard chuck.

Ti Backpackers are currently sold out. I'm planning on bringing them back in even thinner and lighter stock for Generation IV!

I'm still working on the Hunter design every day and will have more updates on the run soon!

The folders are top priority for the year, look out! I heat treated the CPM D2 blades this week after further finishing.

I have more kitchen knives coming out and recently heat treated a small group in .070" AEBL stock. They are slow going with lots of hand sanding but going great! On Tuesday I epoxied up some Ironwood scales with red and black liners.

Look out for more frickies soon! I have some great looking clips for them and am mostly waiting on my Tapping head to complete the run.

Kogotana with Ironwood and a Hunter Prototype in AEBL with Black Micarta... Framelocks in background!

Profiling S7 Recurves with the grinder...

S7 Fighter, S7 Recurve, S7 Hunter Prototype

240 mm Gyuto's in 52100 and AEBL steel... not pictured is one more sanded to 600. These are huge, high RC and take tons of time to hand finish but I'm getting there! :D

Dang man, these look great!

Are you profiling with an AO belt? Or are the knives not directly related to the belt on your grinder?

Thanks! :D

I'm profiling with a 40 grit Cubitron II Ceramic belt, they eat metal (and fingers!) like nothing else. Full speed! That is the setup actually used for them in the pic.

For these I cut my steel bar with the chop saw then grind to profile.

I hang the belt 1/16" off one side of the wheel and grind the steel away in 1/4" chunks... probably took 5-10 minutes at the most to get to this point. I hold the knife horizontally so the grinds are very rough.

I'll set up my flat platen next to clean up the grinds. Drilling, chamfering and cleaning up the flats will happen after that.

They are blue because I'm using dye to help show my scribed (from template) lines to grind to.

Ahh. I have not used Cubitron belts. I stick with Blaze and those 36G Blazes are so metal-hungry!!!

I'm excited for ya, man. This is gonna be a big year!

Those 36 Blaze belts are very comparable... good stuff!

Yes is is going to be a big year! Folders and more!

Very good, Daniel.
Hand sanding takes a lot of time. Can you use a faster way? Also, dunt wear your hands out. Ask DJ!
I think Hartsfield finished with old sanding belts and green scotchbrite.

I would kill to mentor with you for a few days in the shop. I know there's a wealth of knowledge left to learn.

Busy dude!!! Still hoping for that 4 1/2" Petty w/ Ironwood scales I've been looking for! Keep up the fantastic work.

I'm with you Rolf! These next half dozen might be the last ones to get so much sanding. A 240 mm Gyuto takes about 10 hours to hand sand.

The Kitchen knives are more of a passion than anything...

I rotate work like a weightlifter if I can... grind one day, at the mill/drill the next, hand sanding day, sheath day, etc...but grinding and sanding is most of it! :D

Hmm... I'll have to remember that if anyone pisses me off. :D

It is in the works, I have a few Petty's going in 52100 and AEBL with Ironwood a plenty!

Daniels wishlist is on par with Santas :P

I just need some elves! :D

Oooooooo I think that kogatana might have my name on it. :D

PM sent, my man.
