After doing a dozen hawks and axes over the last couple months I thought I'd see if I remembered how to make a knife. I had the blade for this one laying around for a few months and finally got around to heat treating it and putting it together. I've got it rubbed out to 320 grit at this time and hope to finish it off tomorrow after I get my taxes taken care of. The blade is W-1, 11" long with a 9" false edge. All the fittings are different types of wrought iron. The guard came from a old railroad bridge, used a piece of anchor chain behind that and the butt cap is wagon wheel. The handle is a small elk crown. I was wanting to see if I could use the anchor chain without having to remove any of the outside. I had to take just alittle off of one side. I ended up hollowing out 3/4 of the anchor chain to cut down weight. Its 17 1/2" long.
