See the small black handled Buck below. That was one of my Dad's EDCs; he only had a couple that he carried all the time.

I have found myself drawn to that handle of late. I was wondering today what is the largest knife they made with that black file textured material.
And what material is that ?
Assuming I buy one my first preference would be a large single blade knife but I would like to hear about all of them. Was it just Stockmans and two blade knives like this one ?

And finally did any other companies offer this same handle in the black ? (I know Old Timers in brown bone are similar).
Thanks.

Saw cut Delrin. I think the largest Buck in that material would be the 301 Stockman.

I guess I should have added that these knives are no longer in production but are availible in the secondary market.

Thanks to both of you and yes I was guessing I would more than likely have buy a second hand knife.

Here is a shot of a Buck 317 and a catalog sheet from 1985. OH

Super !
Looks like my Dad's was called the Lancer.
Man that 317 has a thick handle. I like that. Although the 307 is closer to what I had in mind.
Thanks guys.

Schrade used that same material on some of the Parker Frost knives they made in the 70's. If you check a certain auction site you may be able to see some. Usually the Parker Frost have an animal name. (Bison, Mink...)

There is a nearly identical line (few patterns) put out under the Remington name back in the 1980's/90's. Those knives were also made by Camillus and had the same construction but came with green/yellow sawcut handles - they're usually cheaper on the secondary market than the same knife with the Buck stamp. OH

Thanks OH, the Camillus I show above with the black sawcut Delrin was about half (or less) of what you would pay for a Buck of the same age, and to me a better knife. FFG with very thin edges and much stouter pulls and snap than any Buck I've ever handled.
