Maybe we should look at a knife Buck has made for some time (although, it's not in the 2001 catalog

);
the Goliath, Model # 446.
This knife as offered in the past, was pretty darn huge, 4.5" clip-point blade tip to pivot, 1.25" wide,1/8" thick, 5.25" handle, lockback with THICK handles.
Ok, so maybe make the blade out of BG-42, put some more beef in handle(liners?) and maybe offer choice of G-10 or polymer or wood, add a thumbstud, keep it a lockback and the whole thing in PCKS. So, what do you think?
This model and the Mentor are IMHO, two of the most underrated possibilities in the Buck line and it seems they're bith going away(sniff).

I would not buy the Goliath when there are much better mega folders out there...sifu, cold steel gunsite & vaquero grande, mad max, ... etc.

Well, my point is that with a bit of customizing, the Goliath would BE one of that group, without the megabucks needed for the Mad Max and without the added cost that a collaboration such as the Buck/Strider has.

I don't like Cold Steel products.
Not an option.
There is no NEED for 99% of the knives we own, so that is not germane.
But hey, thanks.

Brian,
If we made the Goliath with the specs you listed, I'd buy 2! I know of 2 or 3 that were made with metal sides. I will see if i can get a picture of the one i have and email it to you. They are....unique.
