It depends a little on how you plan to carry it...baldric, attached to your pack or off your belt. I typically put my bigger blades in my pack, so a thin, secure kydex is often my choice. However, for a "survival sheath system", I'm really looking at Lost Mountain Iron Works sheaths.

NOW THAT IS WHAT I AM TALKIN BOUT RIGHT THERE.....thanx ROCK6. Anybody else know of any other of the same concept?

I like the classics, a basic leather sheeth with a fire steel loop and a small pocket. I carry a small flashlight and a sharpening stone in it, that's all I need.

Baldric is basically a shoulder strap or sling style and really it could be done with any type of sheath

Talk to Steelnut (here on BladeForums). He's got an excellent rig idea for any kydex sheath with standard grommet holes...very simple and easy to switch around. Plus he makes great sheaths.
