Ina pocket leather sheath

with the purchase of my first case knife I was trying to figure out a best way to carry (easy answer is in my pocket). But I want a way to keep it from being "lost" in my pocket and from being to badly scratched and abused by my keys and other pocket items

So hence the title, does anyone know where I can get a soft leather sheath for my case pocket hunter

Just yesterday, on some thread here on BF, I became aware of KSF leather pouches. I have no experience at all, and I've never even seen one, but they sure look nice. I assume they offer them in different sizes, so you could find a suitable one for your pocket hunter.

That would have to be a pretty small sheath. I'm sure you could find one somewhere but I have no idea myself.

Those KSF Pocket Slips that Fausto mentioned do look very nice but I don't think they make them that small.

Do the pants that you normally wear have watch pockets? My Pocket Hunter fits in a watch pocket real nicely. There is not really enough room in there for anything else to scratch the knife and it makes the knife easy to get to when you need it.

The KSF sheath would probably be too big, its close to 5" long and easily fits 4 1/8" trappers.

I thought they might offer them in different sizes actually. Too bad cause they looked nice.
By the way...if you are not willing to carry it 'free' (actually, the watch pocket would work pretty good), have you considered the idea of getting a 'custom' leather pouch? A few inches of nice leather and a few minutes of work (by someone who can do it, if you don't feel you're skilled for that) should take care of the matter, and for a (I guess) reasonable price you would have a new home for your pocket hunter :)

I often am in khaki and don't have a watch pocket, I might look into a peice of leather and some home work.

AG Russell has some very nice pocket sheaths

^That. I have a bunch of those. They come in two sizes, and are nicely made. Here's a pic:

Well,
Warning I have shown this before, so if you bore easy I semi-appoligize only....ha

Here is one way to store a knife out of harms way if you or a spouse is decent with needle and thread. Sew a slot in the rear edge of the pocket to make an internal pouch. Only works for pockets that are free hanging.

Here is a photo of pouches I make myself. I acquire, you will have to find them yourself, small thin leather pouches in various lenghts. I redo the top a little by cutting at a slant and putting some glue on the cut threads to hold it. I braid a leather thong or use Super Duper Bass line, I use the super braided line in 30lb weight but I braid with four strands. You didn't go to scout camp to leard braiding, look it up on U-tube or do a search. I form loops on each end one through a hole on the pouch top and a loop for my belt. Why I keep using these is that if you slide the belt loop to the back edge of the pocket it keeps you knife along the seam of your pants and you don't get "knife visuals" on the front of your leg. I know of only one person, where I got the idea, who makes and sells these. Do a search for 'Backroom Leather'. Just to be precise, the sheaths hang inside the pocket......... 300Bucks

PS...That leather one could be a hair longer for that pocket. I make several of different lenghts to fit different pants. You can get a couple of sizes of pouches also to accomodate different sized knifes. I use a outside belt slide pouch for big knives.

backroomleather sells some. Check his "leather on the shelf" section. He also sells a buckaroo pouch that is pretty nice, although it sounds like you are more interested in his slip cases.

Make one to your own specs. It isn't very difficult. I made one for a slimline trapper, but I added a pocket clip. I'm going to make a nicer one now that I have a little hands on experience, then I'm going to make one for a case Backpocket. It's nice having something you made yourself, plus I learned something new.

I just put mine in the pocket by itself. Works fine and cheaper than a pouch. The other pocket has a money clip and keys.

It occurred to me, being the Pocket Hunter is a very small knife (2-3/4" closed), might even be able to make a slip case from the finger of an unused leather glove. Seems like it might work for a quick & easy solution.

Not a bad idea actually, wouldn't be a permanent solution but it would work for now.

I've got way to much junk I haul around. I have no empty pockets if I'm not at my desk. It's not a big deal with a pocket clip but I'm afraid with the small knife it would get lost among the junk.

I want to make my own now that I've been reading a bit on it, just got to find the stuff
