Thought I should record my inaugural BK9 chopping experience...

Pre-chopping...fresh out of the box!

Ready to tackle the brush pile. Can you find the BK9 (it's like "Where's Waldo?")?

So...here's my sheath question. Both Beckers came with nice, useful "tacticool" sheaths. I assume these are what are referred to as "molle-compatible". Can someone explain all the gizmos on these sheaths? I'm sure there's some fairly unique ways to hook these things up, and I'd prefer to hear from an expert rather than make myself look like an idiot by hooking something up wrong.

They are bad, horrible! Send it to me for proper disposal! :D

Add a lanyard fer chopping would be wise.

You can use them for belt carry, or use the straps on back to attach it to a packs molle webbing. The pouch is for whatever. Some put a multi-tool there, or an altoids tin, sharpener, etc. There's many after market sheath makers as well. Kydex, or leather.

Great to see that niner get used.

The 9 is a knife that can chop. Its great at doing smaller blade things. Your 16 will be better at it than the 9, but the 9 can do it. But the 9 can also chop as well, its high saber grind will let it operate up in the higher "choppers" type large blade league. The 9 us a true multi-tool for literal "wood working" tasks, hacking, chopping and whittle and making fine fu-fu fuzzy wuzzy sticks. The high saber grind and great steel and good handle made me decide not to get an Esse Junglassthingy. Another important tool is a SAW with SPARE SAW BLADES. A small hatchet or axe is handy if you can handle the weight of it. But for basic woods romping or light load stuff the 9 and 16 make a great combo.

The sheath works for me since I just carry the knife inside my pack. A Falkniven DC4 sharpening stone fits nicely in the pouch. The BK13 fits in the little plastic sleeve inside the pouch. That gives you a little scalpel like knife to use in a pinch if your 9 is too big.
