Inbox email gone ?

ALL my emails (I think) from my "inbox" have disappeared (lots !) ! I started to check my mail and noticed I had one new one, everything else is gone except "sent", what could cause this ?

I am not too good at keeping track of all my mail, just send and receive is about all I ever do. Is it possible for it to be moved into another folder with out me knowing ?

Could it be a virus ? Thanks.

What do you use for email? Outlook? Outlook Express? Web based? It's possible that a setting is enabled that deletes old mail after a certain number of days.
 
Outlook express, that could be the problem:eek: :rolleyes: , I just remembered I changed some settings to try to cut back on spam.

K.V., your a wizard ! Now if I can remember what or how I "fixed" this..:rolleyes: Good thing I don't worry too much about saving emails, cause those things are gone for sure now.

I've done this. You went to delete a single e-mail but your cursor was on your inbox and you deleted it instead. It's waiting for you in the deleted items folder. Newer versions of outlook have an extra confirmation that pops up when you try to delete a whole folder.

Gollnick, that is very possible, but the problem is that last week I tried to fix my stupid spam emails and adjusted my setting to delete or dump all "deleted" mail as soon as it hit the box. (that was smart)

If what you say really happened (and it's very likely) then the deleted mail went to deleted box and then went down the deleted pike..:grumpy:

This whole thing started because I have a box full of "blocked" senders email and they just keep sending, they are all stupid sick people who need to get a life and stop sending me these emails. I don't want to refinance my house, nor do I EVER use or want any of their stupid drugs,(viagra, levitra, xanax etc.):rolleyes: and I sure don't want to invest in any stock !:grumpy:

I keep blocking, and the same ones keep sending, I am on the second floor of my house and one of these days there will be a computor, monitor, and everything else go right out my window and down into the woods, where I will then proceed to get my shotgun and finish it off.:D

Gosh, I actually got a little mad, first time I have ever ranted on a forum...... :o Anyway, thanks for all your help, and if you see any of these spammers, tell them I lost many good emails because of their stupid spam, thank goodness I have my pals emails saved..........I hope.

Who do you use as your spam filter?
 
K.V., I don't have a filter, just use AVG and Spybot, never was bothered that much until the last few months.

I know, it's really my fault, just never took time to set it up or anything. I just can't believe they can get by with this kind of stuff like they do, I thought there was some kind of law against multiple spamming.

I bet I have got 50 "pill" related emails and at least 50 "stock/finance" emails in the last 2 weeks.

I will make a few changes now though..............:grumpy:

I would suggest that you upgrade to Outlook 2003. It has a Junk Email filter installed and works very well. You can set it up very easily to block most spam and you can block future emails that slip through occassionally. Another product I use is Giant Software Spam Inspector.
