Whaddya think of that? Don't know exactly what I am going to do with this monster, it's way to big for me to edc.

Probably just fiddle with it, like most of my knives.

Any Rajah I owners out there? What do you use it for?

It's my feel-good-about-myself knife.

Honestly, it's a great blade.

I can see how it could have that affect! lol ;)

Not a great edc, but I'd carry it if I couldn't CCW and was doing bank drop's, security work, or just headed to a rough side of town.

I have one. Not sure what I'll ultimately use it for... have been using it as my CCW alternate for those occasions when I can't carry a gun. Might relegate it to vehicle duty in the future. Quality of materials, design, and execution on this piece has exceeded my expectations. Good bang for the buck IMO.

PS I'm new here. Howdy!

Welcome to BF big_kahuna! :)

Rajah I is a monster knife. Funny but I was thinking of making mine my glovebox knife. That sounds cool.

I did have a State Trooper pull me & m daughter over near the house last summer and give me a warning for 'alledgedly' having my high beams on too close to an intersection.

Wonder how they'd like to see the Rajah I sitting in the glovebox while we're shuffling around for registration & insurance card...lol?

I bought two and thought I'd lost my mind when I did but one being a safe queen it gave me the okay to wale away on the one I have to use and thats just what I've done. The thing can take tremendous horrible abuse that would flat our ruin anything else I have! I've chopped down big arse trees now with this thing, still rock solid, no signs of it being even affected other than some minor chips I've put on the edge when I accidentally dinged some rebar in a swing on two occassions. I took both of those out and went back to work with it. I've cleaned up quite a few brush and shrub overgrowth areas in my yard with it and find its actually pretty handy to have on you when working outside. It does most everything I was using a 14" or 18" machete for with about the same amount of work and comfort so to me its just as good, only more convenient to carry around on you. Go figure, I'm smitten by this huge sick knife but that is the case. :D It really does function as a folding pocket machete.

I handled one last week in a knife shop and was awed by what a beast of a folder it is ! This was the Rajah II.

They are beasts! My two have rocker arm lock bars that measure over 5.3 mm in thickness. The blades are 4.2 mm to 4.6mm at the thickest part depending on the grind so that seems to indicate it started out with a thicker piece about where Cold Steel says it was in the catalog at 4.8 or nearly 5mm thick! Thats a chunk of steel even thicker than the Espada they still make. In fact I wonder if this knife in the Rajah I was not stronger than the Espada in weight hang tests. Can't find anything other than Rajah II videos though. :(

I EDC'ed one for a bit. Got another knife to fill the roll though. Didn't use it for anything very often aside from goof off cuts and flipping open. Had it come in handy a few times on rope people tied birdnest knots into. Not that a smaller knife wouldn't have done just fine, but it wouldn't have done it in one swing either.

Have a Rajah II that's only seen minor use. It rides in my pack and comes out during hikes for light brush clearing. Ordered a couple Rajah I's today and look forward to them.

Kinda a neat design, but not for me. The top one with alum bolsters looks better then the bottom one. I hate to think what that weighs (too lazy to look it up).

My Rajah 1 carries surprisingly well. Weight isn't a gigantic issue for me but I wouldn't EDC it. I've had my most kicks and giggles when it first arrived and one by one, I set up my family members and friends.

The routine was: bringing out a peice of pizza or any old kind of food and asking if they'd like something to cut it with. Before they answered and with quizzical looks on their faces, I'd wave the R-1 (away from spectator direction) and watch them recoil in horror.

I have a strange sense of humor, but all those who were pranked were amazed by the monster and commented about various cool things they liked about it.

Yeah you can't realistically every day carry one of these. I have carried it some and was also surprised at how well it carried but its 14 ounces roughly which is way heavy. The foot print is rather large in the pocket too so with my hands there is no reaching in for keys and in some pants the knife takes up so much space the keys have to be moved to another pocket so nothing else is in there with the knife. Way big for an everyday knife in my opinion but a fun yard tool.

I renamed mine BERTHA! That rolls off the tongue better than Rajah I for me. :D

I just recieved my Rajah 2 in the mail yesterday. Man what a beast of a knife! Mine will be taken into the bush with me when I know I'm not gonna need a large fixed blade.

The Rajah is just an insane design, but that's what makes it so attractive. I know all of the evidence so far points to the lock being sufficient, but I do worry about the idea of doing any type of hard chopping with a folder, just on principle. The idea of the weight of that blade coming down on my fingers, however highly improbable it seems, makes me cringe. It seems like it would make a fantastic self defense blade however and even more imprtant, it seems like a fantastic toy:thumbup:

Don't think you would have to worry about that. :D

Mine did 2 x's  The first was against my finger but they don't sharpen "just enough" that it's dull where it hit my foremost finger. The second time, I was messing around and it smacked me on the back of the hand, leaving a tiny 1/4 " cut that bled for only a few mintutes but the back of my had was sore for a couple of days from the "blunt force trauma."

Now it's two hands closing it every time. I dodged a bullet twice. :)

you just have to know what you are doing when you are doing it I one hand close this thing all the time.
Like with all knives big or small you have to show some respect

As far as EDCing the Rajah it could be done but just as the task at hand you also have to take in account for the SHEEPLE that are around you.

I love mine. I have the rajah I as a collectors item and leave it alone. I have the ugly sister rajah II as a work knife that I EDC. I wear baggy shorts and it fits nicely in my right back pocket.
