Got one for $220. Should be here in a week. What should I do with it? It's going to Reese no matter what. Should it get the same .160" framelock as my Super 7? I'm thinking maybe a full custom look. Bolsters, micarta, thick locking liner?
 
I am quite partial to frame locks and carbon fiber just now, bolsters and micarta would be nice too though.
 
i dont like the bolsters as much on the '8 as i do on others but YMMV, i would go with the CF and framelock like haze says if it was mine.

while i prefer most everything in the EKI line to be waved and bolstered on the '8 i prefer non waved and G10, but like i say its whatever ya like.
 
I think I'll have it bead blasted on the blade too. I'll carry it as is for a few months first.
 
Just talked to Reese. I'm gonna go with earlier suggestions and do CF with Ti. Think SnG. The CF side will have an integral back spacer. Locking side will be .160".
 
Im doing the very same one piece CF scale and spacer for my Persian :thumbup:
 
It just came. I am sure this is what I'll have him do. Naturally, I'll also have a Ti blade ground for the old handle.

First things first. I have a footlong Ti fixed blade styled after an Emerson look from Reese done in .160" Ti.

No way man, it would mess with the lines too much :eek:

I think the 8 and Persian are the two knives that really dont need the wave
they look so much better with those clean lines. A simple wrist flick or the
thumb disc is just fine to get those boys into action.:thumbup:
 
again i agree with haze, the P-tac just wouldnt look right waved, the '8 either imho.

i have a custom ralph version of that one, just a std stilletto maxx and also have a spearpoint mini maxx 4" with carbon fibre and a talonite blade and while i dont ever carry them they have imho probably the best F&F of any custom i have yet to see, darrel does really good work.

the cammilus versions were also good and i have had several of them, my fav is the stilletto like in the pic, other than the steel and the F&F the custom ralph version and the cammilus's are almost if not exactly the same, same thickness, same everything, usually production versions of customs have little differences from the custom but man they are really close. either version carries very well for as big as they are, they are really thin compared to a lot of large knives,

i used to edc a maxx stilletto & bowie but now i never carry anything with over a 4" blade, maybe if EKI came out with a 5.5" i would give it a whirl though.
