I had this fighter in my hand last night right after sundown and saw a photo opportunity.
I used this in a recent hammer-in demo.
Imagine if you will the guard and frame are mild steel and will get hot-blued gun barrel black.
The blade is a really active 1095/420San Mai affair.
And the scales are off-the-chart Northern California stabilized flame walnut.
I'll be back in a couple days with the finished result.
(I just had some time while drinking coffee here this morning.)

Forgive my ignorance, but is that a tuning fork design in the tang? I've heard of such on competition knives and the like.

I've never heard it called that, but this is how it's built.
The lugs on the front of the frame are filed to just perfectly and snuggly fit into the voids in the back of the guard.
My frames are surface ground to .012" inch thicker that the knife spine.
Which is also precisely the width of the guard slot.
This extra .006" on each side - which you can see in the picture - sits on the side of the guard as well as the top and bottom.
When cranked tight with the cap screw - this assembly is as solid as if it were one single piece. :D

I see the light! Thanks Carl....beautiful beautiful knife!!!! Lovin' the walnut crotch pattern too!!!
