Increasing Handle Grip on a folder

I noticed a while back that someone had skateboard tape in a Benchmade AFCK folder to increase gripability. What are some other good ideas to increase your grip on a folder? I live here in Alabama and it gets hot in the Summertime. Sweaty hands and a aluminum handled folder just don't mix well.

I would not use skateboard tape on my knives.
1. Too sticky dragging it out of the pocket for my tastes.
2. Most of what I carry is too expensive to put the likes of that on a high end knife and the ones I choose have plenty of gripability or I don't carry them [ if I do get one I don't like I usually won't carry it long or sell it ].

Best suggestion is to get a folder you feel comfortable with to begin with and not have to re-engineer the thing to begin with. There are plenty to choose from in all price ranges.

Keeping a firm grip on the knife while under stress is not something most people will do. In training with a new person using the trainers they get the knife wacked out of the hand [ holding it too loose in the hand ] the first time I try it almost everytime.

It's one of the lessons I drive home in mu classes as if it is wacked out of your hand you surely won't need any knife defensive skills as you won't have your knife.

May have to try that. I've got an aluminum handle folder that I may try that on. It has that bright aluminum look to it.

You can make scales from your favorite material (wood, bone or whatever), and epoxy them on, improve looks too.

I scratched up the handle of my stainless Spyderco Dragonfly, an EDC for me, to give the smooth handles some roughness. I used the edge of a thin file to put a lot of shallow scratches into the stainless steel scales. It turned out pretty well, both in function and in appearance. The grip with wet or sweaty hands is improved and it looks fine. (No pictures at present, maybe someday soon.)

How do you go about getting a knife beadblasted? I would love to do that on the frame of my CUDA EDC, both for looks and for gripablity.

I took a Dremel to the handles and liners on my 710 and 806. They're not pretty but they're way more grippy now.
