That my newest 152 Sharpfinger is one of the rare and therefore much desired and soughtafter Stainless Old Timers. :(

In other news, I have been engaged in another Schrade experiment to determine which knife is most suitable for skinning and dressing a deer. Using all available knives, the 165OT, 162UH, 156OT, 154OT, 152OT and the 15OT two nice bucks have been processed this week. Results are preliminary however, as a 152UH, 160OT, 165UH, 164UH, are yet to be secured for testing. Those interested in furthering scientific knowledge may send their knives this week. In the meantime, I will be engaged in acquiring more organic test materials.

Codger (shameless Schrade knife groveling at it's finest) :D

Can't wait for the full report!
Glad we are back too.

Codger,

You have HONED your groveling skills to the finest POINT possible. You are quite SHARP in your efforts. :D

You must be a fine hunter as well, to have bagged 2 already. Well done, and save us some meat, please. ;)

I try not to be too dull, but temper my remarks without being cutting, yet retaining a bit of the tang takes some of thought. :D

And our deer seasons continue til January 9th, and the 14 doe tags, 2 buck tags I have left most likely will not all be used. You soon reach a point where you remove the tenderloins and donate the deer to the "Hunters for the Hungry" program. I heartily recommend this to all you hunters on the board. Nearly every State and Province has such a program, though the names vary.
I am not sure about Mexico, but I wouldn't be surprised. Tennessee hunters donate thousands of pounds of venison every year.

And I left off my list the 158OT, and probably a few others that have slipped my mind. The greenies (Safe-t-grip) series will be tested last. Oh, and lacking a 160OT (insert grovel here) I will be instead testing the 153UH Golden Spike, which is based on the same blank, but not carbon and not full tang and not the same grind (Thanks for the info Schrademeister hat guy!).

What, no 49ers in your testing, Codger! I have recently procured a 498L, 498S (plastic) and a 497S (plastic). You wouldn't want them though - they are ugly and can't cut :p.

P.S. I have a 499S in my crosshairs :D.

Hey! I have a $2,000 snipe set on that 499S!

Actually I do have a 498S that I could test. However, it looks as though it was used at a recycling center to cut the top off of car batteries, so it really would not be indicative of the true utility of that best selling knife.

Neither do I have an H-15 or any of the newer X-timers, a 171UH, etc. I do have a 137 serrated, but I consider it to be too pristine to be a user, so it will be omitted from the test. The same goes for the little George Schrade Stagbrand #1.

Wasn't it Phil who gave us that most excellent review of the two X-Timer blades? I would like to see him test the entire series of them as well.

And CRH? Sounds to me like you are just the guy to critique the '49ers on their usefullness. You do have a user among those cherries, don't you? ;)

Who is the fisherman of this comitted (or soon to be) crowd? I would think he or she would be the one to tackle the fillet knives. There must have been a dozen or more designs of them made over the years.

I am yet to find a Schrade knife that won't do it's intended job well. Seeing that I intend to include the stainless greenies in this test, it should be apparent that appearance is not a criteria for the testing, just design utility. After all, it is a well known fact that America, Canada, and Mexico (and a lot of Europe) works with Schrade!

And speaking of utility, construction season begins again in the spring here, so maybe I can review the Schrade pocket tools.

If you have a favorite user that is not included in those to be tested, be sure and send it out next week (abreviated grovel). By all means, I want this test to be impartial and fair to all of the hunting knives and the Schradeophiles they own. :D
