Is there a knife community term for these knives? You know the ones, flick open-able with the index finger?
As assisted opening is a no go in Aus, these are the next best thing.
Bought a Buck Vantage, love it.

Any more recommendations for under $100?

cheers

Kershaw Lahar.

And an ebay link for ya: http://shop.ebay.com.au/?_from=R40&...&_nkw=kershaw+lahar&_sacat=See-All-Categories

Also a Boker Exskelibur though I couldn't find that on ebay aus for you. The Exskelibur has an interesting take on the flipper...the flipper is jimping on the top of the blade that utilize by rolling your index finger over. Check the youtube vid below.

My favorite flippers are the Kershaw RAM, OD-1, and Groove. All fit your price range. The RAM is incredibly fast to flip open and closed.

Don't forget the kershaw skyline. Mine came lightening fast out of the box and has seemed to be the perfect edc blade for me. Also you could always remove the bar from the kershaw speedsafe flippers if you like the design of them (makeing the knife fully manual).

When you buy a flipper knife be careful though, because very many flipper knives also have assisted opening.

It does make it manual, but most AOs weren't designed to be good manual flippers. You're unlikely to get good action if you do this.

aussie customs are bastards for these kinda things.
even if it is a non-assisted flipper, customs will still most likely view it as a switch blade. or so ive heard.

I agree, gotta be careful. I have gotten one Kershaw Skyline into Australia, but it wasn't checked by Customs. If it was, I would probably bet that they would confiscate it. There's been some talk recently about onehanded openers of any kind, with the Spyderco Sage II used as an specific example, being viewed as Category M weapons. This was a month or so ago, not sure what's going on now.

++1 on the Lahar. 100% manual. VG-10 Blade, G10 handle, solid steel liners and generous size. Surprisingly got more knife for my money. Got it $50 shipped from my favorite online outfitter.
