I was was hoping sombody could answer me this, Around the early to mid 80's a partner of mine had a collection of 5or6 folding lock backs with indians and a different game animal engraved white handles on each, and in a wooden case. As I recall if the complete set was obtianed they were fairly expensive! I recently recieved a sharade with a indian hunter on one side and a grizzly bear on the other, with a signature and what looks like a 66 engraved on the handle. It also has a 4 digit number stamped on one of the brass ends. Is this one of the knives like my partner had?

Thanks,Highfly

I purchased one of this series in 1985. One side is engraved with a bear, shield, lance, and tomahawk on white, possibly?, delrin. The other is apparently a shaman dancing with rattles. It appears to be signed either 'T' or 'F' Giorgianno. The number 9674 is stamped in the brass. The blade is stamped SCHRADE+ and U.S.A. B.C. The belt sheath is black leather with a standing bear beaded on it. I believe the purchase price was $60. If you or anyone else has acquired any info on this series since '03 please let me know...Katman

Del,
Thanks for posting the link. I couldn't find it on the comp-cons.com site and thought it was gone. Just about to mail you about it.

There are 7 in the series. Want to tell us a little about them?

There are 6 knives in the Schrade series and 1 knife from a 'special edition' done for Montgomery Ward. The knives were produced between 1981 and 1986, with a knife being released every year. The number of knives produced in each release ranges from 8,000 to 10,000. The sheaths are beautifully hand-beaded with a motif fitting to the knife theme.

The knife highfly describes above does not sound like it is a knife from this series, and the knife described by katman sounds like the "Bear Clan" knife from the series. Photos would be best to fully determine this though.

Thank you all...My knife is the Schrade Bear Cult model of the Schrade Indian Series...it is pictured; top row, second from left on the pictures posted on the http://www.comp-cons.com/Indians.htm reference posted. The first picture of the 6+1 series leads me to believe that it was the same year issue I purchased it - 1985. Again - thanx to all of you. Katman

Thankyou Del you are as right as rain or perhapes a rain dance in this case is more applicable . My Northern Mountain cherokee blood allows me these ethnic jokes. Dels collection of these particular items is unique. Thankyou for your response. LT
