I know Indiana just legalized autos this month. My question is exactly what is illegal here? After a lengthy conversation with a friend, he is adamant that there is some buried statute that makes assisted openers and flippers illegal here. I also keep hearing that balisongs are illegal too. I have read over the laws time and time again, and I can't understand the legal jargon. Can anybody clarity it for me, please?

Under state law, only ninja stars and ballistic knives are illegal. Nothing else, period. http://www.in.gov/legislative/ic/code/title35/ar47/ch5.pdf

The only possibility is a county or city based law. They exist, but you'd have to give me one to look up. Other than that, you're friend is just plain wrong. Tell him or anyone else making such a declaration to cough up the specific statute or shut up.

Indiana laws are lax - Switchblades and Autos are legal.
No blade restrictions etc - just no throwing stars.
Just up to private property owners as to what they will allow on there property etc - Walmart - Target ETC.
