ok so i am traveling to an event in indiana in aug with the boy scouts (specifically order of the arrow for any one that is/was in scouts) and just wanted to know if there will be any issues from having a knife with me? i plan to carry my leek and my sog twitch 2. i will be at IU for the event but even their policy on "Weapons" doesnt seem to mention knives really. i think the laws are fine with what i will be carrying but just wanted to check to see if there is any one from Indiana to confirm

Indiana's one of the more blade-friendly I know of: If it's not a switchblade or a "ninja star," it's legal under state. You can even carry fixed blades concealed.

As usual, be warned that county and city laws apply and may contain more restrictions. Also, institutions and even events may mandate additional policy. It would probably be a good idea to call campus police and ask. http://www.indiana.edu/~iupd/

Have you seen the arrow?

thanks mike, that is the page i saw but sine their laws are so few i wasnt too sure.

i figured there wouldnt be much issue as long as i just check the knives on the flights to and from and maybe at most not carry them into the shows since NOAC (national order of the arrow conference) has about 4 shows

I am currently a student at IU, and I am an owner of multiple folding knives (2 Emersons, a Benchmade and an SAK). I carry them openly, and I use them for random jobs (i.e. knifing open a strung-up bundle of tests in front of students :D or the occasional cardboard box), and I take them out for cleaning in the dorms. So far, I haven't gotten any strange looks or have been stopped by campus PD. It seems they're more vigilant going after under-age drinkers (especially during Little 5 weekend, which just passed). I remember a time when I was unloading groceries with my Commander clearly clipped in my front right pocket in a parking lot, and I saw a couple of officers stop the guy in the car next to me, unloading multiple packs of Miller Light. Anyways, I digress. If you're worried, you should play it conservatively and take out your knife only when you need to. The campus is beautiful at this time of year and I hope you enjoy your visit. :)

ya i was there back in 2002 for the last NOAC that was hosted there, i like that campus and the dorms we stayed in were better than the other places we stayed in at the other NOACs.

thanks for the info
