Interesting story here about how India's army is supplying soldiers with a Victorinox SAK that is "the fourth generation pocket knife for army personnel, fire brigades, security and police forces."
The article says the knife is equipped with a special locking system for the blade and the screwdriver. It is lightweight yet extremely robust. The article also says, "the other interesting feature this knife was the use of a single hand by user while opening the blade."

There's not picture, though. Anyone know more about this knife?

Dont know for sure of course, but I suspect it is probably the One-Hand Trailmaster.

Too bad the blade is serrated. If they made one with plainedge I'd be all over it.

Ahh, of course! :o The locking screwdriver threw me. I didn't realize the Trailmaster had that.

Still doesn't make up for the damn serrations. I'm with shootist16 on that one: If they made one with plainedge I'd be all over it.

I've always wondered how hard it would be to sharpen off the serrations since the SAK steel isn't the hardest stuff out there.

The serrations are pretty mild. I did not care much for them either, so when I sharpen the knife I do it on a stone like I would a plain edge. After a few times the serrations are a non-factor. You can see where they are, but for all practical purposes the blade is now plain.
