I might be changing jobs in the next few weeks, and the new job doesn't offer insurance until you've been employed for at least a year. I'm just trying to find some companies that offer a good individual insurance plan that won't cost me an arm and a leg. I'm trying to find something that has dental and vision coverage if possible. I've already looked at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, as they're the provider my employer uses now, but I'm just curious if there are any better options out there.

Thanks for any suggestions.

My solution was to marry a schoolteacher. Let the taxpayers buy my insurance. :D

Check on COBRA. Most employers are obligated to sell you health insurance for 18 months on their group plan after you leave the job. This may not be cheap by your standards, but if you have pre-existing conditions or any special circumstances it can pay for itself. I think that employers usually charge the cost of the group plan. IME group plans are typically a better value: more benefits/$ spent.

IME with several major plans in this state vision is only covered in the most rudimentary fashion unless you have an eye disease. Dental is usually a separate policy.
