Well, it's wet and cold down here in Carolina and the wife wants a fire in the living room fireplace. I had started splitting wood yesterday but I didn't get to the tinder and starter wood. Too wet to stand outside so I brought a few pieces into my office and split wood on the office safe (actually firmer than what I am using for a splitting stump out back.) The SRKW HCSE made short work of some well seasoned Sugar Maple with an old ax handle for a baton. I have broken knife blades in fat lighter before so I needed something equally fat to split with. The Fat Punkin' Warden mowed through it like it was SYP down to slivers smaller than a pencil. The rule of splitting fat lighter; Split it until you think it's small enough then split it 2 more times. It just goes to show that HOGS and Rats can work together.

I don't see any blood or broken blades, so I'm glad it turned out well! :D

And that's a good tip about the fat lighter. It's amazing how little it takes.

Nice to see the smaller ones in play.

It's funny, I was slicing tomato's with a NMSFNO about a half hour ago.:)

Thanks for sharing

I was splitting wood for my dad the other day (before the 6 feet of snow). The wood I was using was so hard and dense that it was bouncing the mall, and was almost impossible to start a wedge into it. There was a lot of fat wood in the centers, so I broke out the FBMLE to get it out. I ended up with a large zip lock bag of great fat wood.
Good stuff for sure. Sure smells nice and strong too.

The pumpkin gw makes a great little battoner for that smaller stuff.
