I love the look of the new Inertia & Momentum, but, I'm disturbed by the possibility (probability?) they're assembled with (damnable) rivets. I've seen a reference to "heavy-duty fasteners, and I've only seen images of one side.

If they are indeed rivets, why?! Why, Buck? Rivets are a deal-killer.

When will more details be available, and when is the release to retailers date?

The Inertia, playing with this image on my computer I see screws (the 830 has screw construction and aluminum scales so I bet that the flippers both have screws) The pocket clip is screw fastened so this makes me think the scales are as well otherwise why not pin the clip? I have one on order since day one so I will report upon arrival:

Per one vendor you've already seen:

Key Features
  • Springs open with a single flick
  • Anodized 6061 T6 aluminum handle
  • Removable stainless steel clip
  • Heavy-duty fasteners

294 Momentum pic for comparison purposes:

Screw assembly can be problematic for the manufacturer. The original 186 Titanium was a screw assembled knife. Buck included the tool and detailed instructions. Problem was, people took them apart then sent them back to Buck for reassembly. Not everyone is as handy as they think. Buck went to rivets, reissuing the knife as the model 560.

This is the video from a couple other threads concerning the new tactical knives.

At exactly 1:44 there's a pretty good shot of the opposite side of the Momentum. Looks like screws at the clip end, but the blade pivot is something else though it does have a profile for what could be a special tool.

All speculation, of course.

Oh, yes! Those are definitely Torx. But, I hope production doesn't change them. As to what the pivot uses, I guess we'll see, but that video gives me hope - as they're both mine if not riveted! :D

Thanks for posting that!

What's the blade length of these knives?

Inertia blade length: 3 1/8 inches (drop point, stonewashed finish, 420HC steel) Overall knife length when open: 7 3/4"

Momentum blade length: 3 1/8 inches (drop point, satin finish, S30V steel) Overall knife length when open: 7 3/4"

These two (Inertia and Momentum) are take offs on the automatic 898 Impact, same blade shape and blade length but without the automatic legal bug a boo. They are flippers. Oh boy! Fun in store.

Photo of the Automatic, yes I said Automatic, 898 Impact for your amusement and comparison to the OP topic flippers:
