Inexpensive customizable slipjoint

I'm looking for a single-blade slipjoint under $40 US street price that can easily be modified to accommodate a new set of scales. Obviously, the handle material it comes with doesn't matter. Decent fit and finish is a requirement, however. I'd prefer something with simple lines - but other than that, I'm not set on a specific pattern.

I don't know how, if at all, this would work...but a good single bladed slippie with not-so-fancy handle scales would be a Case Barehead Slimline Trapper in CV, with yellow composition handles. Should cost around $30 new. There are several other options though. I kinda like the yellow look myself.

On the left is a list of all the high-carbon steel knives with yellow handles. These are the cheapest handles, so they are ideal for re-handling. Some of the more popular slipjoint patterns are made in yellow, and Case fit, finish and edge retention is excellent at this price point.
