Does anyone know where can I get one of French trade knives in carbon steel, version thats pretty good and inexpensive???My budget is up to 100 dollars US,if such version exists for this amount of money....found Jeff White blank for 50$,but think thats too much for what it is....any input is welcome

Condor made one as their "Scalper" model for like $75.00. Cold Steel also offered a scalper in their "Red River / Hudson Bay" line from years back. They used to be still somewhat cheap, but who knows now?

You could also maybe also rework a Russell "Green River" blank or a older Cimeter butcher knife into a similar knife if you wanted a winter project.

Cold Steel's Red River knives were great historic reproductions but in much better Carbon V/50100B/0-176 steelthan the originals -- American Hunter, Elk Skinner, and I think there were also a Hudson Bay and a Green River -- I re-handled a couple of the Elk Skinners with moose antler scales, gave one to my hunting buddy and still have the other. The sheaths weren't bad, either.

Ragweed forge gets another vote!!!! You could always just check out the Ontario butcher knives that run about $20! They're called old hickory! Google it and look at the pictures! I think at least 2 models would cover what you're looking for!!

Old Hickory.
True to both design & purpose.
Cheap/utility/simple/easy to sharpen.
1095 steel - made in the USA

I think Old Hickory knives are heat treated in the low 50s; tough but won't an edge. I used to sharpen my mother-in-law's but it would dull just by looking at it.

Old Jeff White knives, and Ragweed Forge has been mentioned. Or Track of the Wolf. Another is crazy crow trading post but they are more expensive for the same product I have seen elsewhere. It was mentioned just look for trade knives and a wide selection comes up. I have seen the Jeff white knives with curly maple handles for decent prices.

Edited.
